Is there a reason that with XP and WMP 11 certain radio stations will not

play? Can anyone help?

I don't think media player supports most shoutcast stations. Is there

a specific station you had in mind ? For example. what happens with

the windows media streams on www.somafm.com ?

That link won't work. There were a few international stations for ex.

www.live24.gr/radio/supersportfm" >www.live24.gr/radio/supersportfm that used to play with WMP 10. I

downloaded a bunch of codecs and I got it to work. I don't know why there is

such a discrepancy b/w 10 and 11

Sorry, I can't see any specific examples of radio on the page URL you

gave below. Please give an exact URL copied from your browser address

bar where a radio station which used to play no longer does.

I'll check the page and content it's returning and get back to you.

Re:No stream with some radio stations-WMP 11

Hmm it was because I was viewing it in Firefox. Their page code is

broken and it doesn't display any media player in FF (though it does

in IE browser).

The link to the content there is mms://sportfm.live24.gr/sportfm7712

In WMP11, mms links like that above no longer work (the support for

that was removed starting with WMP9). Content providers are supposed

to have updated their sites in the last 5 years to take this into

account, but many haven't (or don't know how to).

You could try this link directly : With media player open, press CTRL

+ M keys, to show the menus. Then go to File ->Open URL and paste

sportfm.live24.gr/sportfm7712" >sportfm.live24.gr/sportfm7712

That should work. If it doesn't it could be because it's WMA mono.

There's a specific bug in some configurations of AC3 Filter, which is

used for DVD audio playback where it kills the mono audio in WMP11

In that case, the steps on this page should get the audio working :

www.w3exchange.com/t674-3-a-b...wmp-91011.html" >www.w3exchange.com/t674-3-a-b...wmp-91011.html

That may be the cause of other radio not working too (if it's WMA

mono) and the mms link could still be the other cause on many other

web pages.
