pause between songs during playback on WMP11

Media Player135
Hey all,

I've seen this question addressed for previous versions of WMP but not for

11 (and the answers have not been positive).

My entire CD collection consists of uninterrupted dj mixes where no gaps,

skips, pauses, or breaks occur between songs. I've resisted transferring my

collection to my PC or other portable devices until someone can design a

player that handles these types of files correctly and with at least as much

ease as popping in a cd. You'd think the mighty MicroSoft or Apple could use

their billions to configure their software to do what a $10 CD player could

do, at the very least. I'd even be willing to pay for the option. Now, here

we are at WMP #11, and I'm beginning to believe it will never happen.

I use WMP11 to play my CDs at home, but it's getting old fumbling with cases

of CDs, and especially when traveling it'd be nice to be able to leave the

excess baggage at home and just have all my music on my laptop. Someone,

please, give me some good news.

Re:pause between songs during playback on WMP11

Eh? This was fixed back in WMP8 (aka Media Player for Windows XP). Turn on

the Cross-fading Enhancement and set it to "0" (zero), as it should be by

default. My friend Patrick did that, and we did that explicitly to enable

gapless playback. =)

This can be broken if the "FhG MP3 Professional Codec" is installed (it

doesn't allow multiple instances), but that's a for-pay codec, so the only

common distribution of that is via illicit codec packs, and so it's unlikely

that you would run into that problem.

Re:pause between songs during playback on WMP11

Thanks,

That did it. But it was a little strange. The toggle was set to "Turn on

Crossfading" which I read to mean it was currently off. So I clicked it, and

then it displayed "Turn off Crossfading" (which I assume means it's now on)

and set the slider to "0.0 seconds of overlap".

The gap of silence disappeared, but I started getting a skip between tracks

where I'd lose the tiniest slice of music, enough to be annoyed. I rechecked

to make sure my slider was all the way to "0.0" but still had the skip.

Then, I set it back to "Turn on Crossfading" (again, which I assume means

it's now turned off), and now it plays perfectly. Go figure.

Anyway, thanks again for the assist. It's much appreciated.

Re:pause between songs during playback on WMP11

Hi! I'm trying to burn music, but I need it to be without pause between the

songs.

I have done it before, a long time ago, but now I do not remember it.

Could you please help me? Thank you in advance!

Re:pause between songs during playback on WMP11

It's not generally possible in Windows Media Player unless you use the Nero

Fast Burning Plug-in, which is not compatible with current versions of

Windows Media Player.
