Screensaver Funnies

Media Player134
I have a new HP m380n system that is working fine except for the

screensaver. At first I didn't think it was working at all but further

investigation shows that something is causing it to come out of

screensaver mode. I set it to one minute, and sure enough, the

screensaver will come on after that time. However, after some varying

time interval it will come out of screensaver even though the mouse or

keyboard have not been touched. The interval varies from one to several

minutes. Then, after a minute or so of no keyboard/mouse activity it will

go back into screensaver, then repeat ad infinitum. If the time-out is

set to, say, 15 minutes, it will never go into screensaver mode because

(I assume) whatever is causing it do come out of screensaver mode fires

more often than that.

I can't figure out what is causing it. I've applied the latest Microsoft

updates and latest drivers from HP to no avail. It's running MediaCenter

2004, has an nVidia 5200 graphics card and wireless keyboard/mouse. What

else besides mouse or keyboard activity could cause it to leave the

screensaver? Any ideas what to check? Anyone else have this problem?

One final thought...I had the system for a few days before I first ran

Media Center and during that time the screensaver and monitor power-off

worked just fine. This problem didn't occur until after the first time I

ran Media Center and configured it. Could there be something there that's

causing this (sure seems like it...)? Any ideas what?

Thanks...
