Widescreen and MCE2004 "Magic Button"

Media Player12
Can someone tell me how to get MCE2004 to display a widescreen TV signal on

a 30â?? widescreen LCD TV, while using the VGA hookup? MCE2004 menus are at

wide screen aspect ration but live TV is a 4:3.

This TV does not have a DVI input therefore I have to choose between

VGA/S-Video/Antennae or Analog RCA.

Hereâ??s the set up:

1. Gateway 901 Media Center Computer

2. Hauppauge TV Tuner for FMC-901 (NTSC/NTSC-J 28552 REV B123) view pictures

of the card

support.gateway.com/s/VIDCARD/Hauppage/6002635/6002635tc.shtml

3. Nvidia G-Force FX 5200

4. Audiovox FPE3000 30â?? Widescreen TV

5. Directv

I have installed the latest NVIDIA drivers.

I downloaded all the Hauppauge programs and used the â??remove allâ?? tool. When

the program was finished I choose to restart as per the instructions. On

restart the computer found the new hardware and set it up. I went ahead the

ran the new driver installation anyway but Iâ??m assuming this was

insufficient. When I get home Iâ??ll run the â??remove allâ?? tool again and

instead of re-booting Iâ??ll immediately run the driver instillation program.

I can get a widescreen TV picture by using the s-video connection and

choosing the anamorphic setting on the LCD TV. This is because MCE2004 is

sending a 4:3 signal and the TV is re-configuring this signal to fit. I do

not have the anamorphic option while in the VGA mode.

To view a widescreen DVD without black bands I have to be in the VGA mode.

Finally if there is a widescreen movie on satellite I get black bands in both

modes.

I have a feeling this is a TV Tuner card limitation. Am I right?

How about a device that converts DVI-D to Composite? I have been unable to

find one. Donâ??t believe there is one.

Re:Widescreen and MCE2004 "Magic Button"

Hit "more info" on the remote and select "zoom". There will be 3 modes that

you can then choose.

Re:Widescreen and MCE2004 "Magic Button"

Here's the answer:

While in VGA mode nd while watching live TV pless the "more info" button.

Choose zoom and there you will have the option to change the zoom settings.

#3 works for my screen aspect ratio.
