after a while the test started to work. Any idea what would have gone wrong
My guess is that one of the agents was not responding correctly to the controller. Next time you run into this, can you open the Administer Test Controller dialog and see if all of the agents are in the Ready state.

Can you provide a description of your problem How many agents does the test start and then stop after a few minutes, hours Are you using webtests or unit tests or both Anything else you think might be helpful.

I encountered the same issue today.I tried to run test for long, but it did not work. I have 9 agents. In Test rig all are in Ready state.
Then I checked the controller log, it did not have any error messages apart from one of the perf users not being in the Admin group and trying to access perf test results. I added him to the admin group and restarted the controller service. This worked fine after that.
I am not sure if user access problem is related to this or not, but definitely after restarting controller service, the system worked fine.
