How long ago did you register, I have found that it can some time take up to 48 hours to grant the access to the site.

Hi Glenn, I registered on the 10th of August - just tried again (logged in fine to my passport) but it gave the same result...the connect page with the error code.

Go to http://connect.microsoft.com/ and sign in. On the bottom right corner, click 'Manage My Profile'. Add in the extra info (*), sign out, and try the benefits portal again.

You have toupdate your profile, because there's info that must be in your account that you can't fill in when you sign up first, that is required to enter the benefits portal.
