I build computers and program applications. I am trying to program an application that you write down what you have done to build/fix a computer, you save it and you reopen it. Could you tell me how to save and open stuff

I need to be able to open pictures to.

Have you decided what type of file you will be using to write your information to:

Database:

ADO.NET - http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/learning/adonet/

XML:

System.XML - http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp url=/library/en-us/cpref/html/frlrfSystemXml.asp

Or

Simple Text or Binary files:

System.IO - http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.io.aspx

there are plenty examples on the forums on how to insert, delete, update data into a database, including pictures :-)

you need to:

  • Design a database using either Ms Access or Sql

  • Create the tables and relationships etc... appropriately

  • Next up, design your application. Choose a method on performing your data operations such as via the TableAdapter/DataSet wizard or doing it programmatically (Raw approach). The Raw approach gives you more flexibility than doing it via the wizard.

  • Design your form also and do forum searches as there are many many topics (endless) on how to connect to a database, how to retrieve, delete, update data into a database.

  • Design your search feature also, this will be part of the retrieving data process.

There are a few steps to this, take each step one by one and move on up from there. I would suggest starting by designing the database first, then move onto designing the application itself, finding out how to integrate the app with the database and work from there.
