.vbproj file wont hold subType value

Hi all I think there might be something wrong with my .vbproj file I have added in a new form for testing. Here I can see that QueryForm does not get the <subType>Form</subType> so I add it and then reopen my project it sets it back to the original:

<Compile Include="QueryForm.Designer.vb">

</Compile>

<Compile Include="QueryForm.vb">
</Compile>

So after I add the subType and reopen VS no change to the QueryForm in solution explorer exit VS and the file has reset itself to the above.
Any ideas on how to get these values to stick, or is my form corrupted beyond help

If the IDE will not recognize the class file as a form then yes it is corrupt...although you may be able to go in and manually fix the corruption...you would be best to start fresh with a new form

Odd problem. Note that the Designer.vb file has the <SubType> tag too. Nevertheless, when I remove the Form SubType tag by hand, the IDE automatically restores it. That suggests that you've made a "certain" change to the form that convinces the IDE that it is no longer a form but a regular class. No idea what that change might be. Can you still design the form

When I see your problem the first time, I eagerly want to know the edition of your VB.NET IDE. If it is Visual Basic.NET Express Edition, I suggest you to change another such as professional edition or something else.

However, have you tried to check the reason on fail to get the From or the subType Please try to search the reason like this in http://msdn.microsoft.com

Ye Ive tried searching every where for an answer, and yes If money was no object I would get the professional edition (which hopefully is more stable). The design mode does not work which is the whole point, but the program runs perfectly in debug mode. I have been using the form as it was in its last working state but now need to add a couple of buttons so I am rebuilding it from scratch I think something has been corrupted in the .Designer.vb file or similar however I have not touched the file other than adding simple onclick commands. If any one can think of a solution I would still be interested to know but by the end of today I will have created a new form thank you all for your help any way. bailey
