I installed team foundation server in a domain server successfully, and my team explorer can connect it without any problems. Also I put it to the internet, anyway it is not security, but I just want a test. However, I found the VS2005 didn't ask me any authentication before let me connected as the administrator As the client computer connect the server via internet, and it is not a domain computer. So the team explorer must store the authentication in some place, and it uses some default authenticaiton. So can anyone tell me where does the team explorer store such sencitive information and how to modify it

Any suggestion is appreciated.

Hi Ron,

Team Explorer actually doesn't store any authentication. It uses Windows Authentication to access Team Foundation Servers. A few questions for you though:

1. How did you put "it" on the internet What is "it" Is "it" the Team Foundation Server If so, what steps did you go through to ensure that the connection was be performed over the internet

2. When you are on the client, are you requested to provide credentials when you navigate to the server on the internet (eg. http://<YourAppTier>:8080/services/v1.0/registration.asmx)

3. When you connect to the Team Foundation Server from the Team Explorer, what is the Url that is being used to connect (usually it is found in the registry under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\TeamFoundation\Servers.
