alright i've been searching around for a while and still havent found much. does anyone know a way to change the color of the taskbar to some color that isn't XP set, like black iv read up on this and there were 2 solutions, 1,third party software;2,"hack". Well considering that there is 3rd party software, there should be a way to change it programmaticly. so does anyone know how or at least what programming language this can be done in

d'ya mean the bar that has "start" at the bottom 'cause i've got styler running right now and it makes windows xp look awesome! just google styler and you'll find a download for it (it's shareware), and then just get some xp themes (must have .msstyle extension) from websites by googling "xp theme" and styler will apply them. it's really cool, and runs in the background using 0% of the processor and about 1 megabyte of ram.my style doesn't have a start button, it has the vista pearl where the start button used to be (yay!)

well im guessing your talking to me, clinto. and well i assume that there's a file that holds the windows blue, silver, and olive themes. If it were possible to find it and "hack" it, i think it can work. the problem is finding it, and even if its possible to open, changing it so that itll work afterward and won't severly slow down a comp or crash it.

I've looked all over, too. I liked the black at first, but working with it now, I realize that determining which button on the taskbar corresponds to the active window is like an eye test. This is idiotic that it can't be changed. I hope there's enough of an uproar about this and other crazy changes in the 2007 lineup to knock some sense into the people who thought it was "cool" to freeze it black.
