Exchange Servers Admin >> Exchange 2007 OWA fails after update rollup 6

Exchange 2007 Enterprize on Win2003 R2 x64 server with all roles on a single
server. IIS installed and OWA also served from the this server.

After installing the latest update rollup - rollup 6 - OWA fails to log
users in.
This has occurred with every update rollup in the past, but has been
resolved by populating the new folders in C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange
Server\OWA\8.x.x.x that are empty with the scripts and themes and restarting
IIS.

However, this did not resolve the issue this time. I have worked on this
and found that the only way to restore OWA is to remove rollup 6.

Does anyone know how to apply the rollup without sacrificing OWA? If the
procedures could be outlined, I would appreciate it. Our users rely on OWA
heavily. I cannot apply any further rollups until there is a definitive
solution.

TIA
Rick

Exchange Servers Admin >> Exchange 2007 OWA fails after update rollup 6 Rollup updates usually stop the services and try to restart it, almost all
cases with me they still stoped after teh update is complete (my own exp)

so did you tried to start the service or restart the server ? what's the
errror mesage indicates ? what get-webservicesvirtualdirectory command fetch
?

i believe that installing SP1 Rollup update 1 will get that prblem solved
(install SP1 then the rollup update 1)

Exchange Servers Admin >> Exchange 2007 OWA fails after update rollup 6 Mohamed,

Thanks for the response.

I had tried many things while trying to get the OWA site working again, of
which there were many reboots and service restarts. Over the past several
rollup installs, this same thing has happened and there have been many
answers from various users as to how to quickly fix this, including
recreating the OWA site and even reinstalling IIS. I've also seen forum
messages that indicate this is a wide-spread problem and has happened with
every rollup release.

I worked with this yesterday afternoon and it's clear the the OWA app pool
is missing something, but I couidln't quite figure out what it was or how to
get it added correctly.

I checked back through the rollup 6 description, but see no instructions for
updating the OWA site. I guess the rollup installer can't assume that the
IIS/OWA site is on the same box (...I wish it would check for it, though...)
but shouldn't there be some kind of notification that the install is going to
occur and to manually update your OWA site - maybe some kind of link to the
site to tell you what needs to be added to the OWA site?

Thanks.
Rick
