Exchange Servers Setup >> Exchaneg 2003 SP2 OWA

Hi All,

I have just upgraded Exchange 2003 A/P cluster, running on Windows 2003 SP1,
to Ex 2003 SP2.

I upgraded the front end / owa server first. All seemed to go OK - I tested
OWA after the front end had been upgraded and had no problems. Then
upgraded the cluster nodes, following the ms kb for upgrading exchange
service pack on cluster.

I have email flowing correctly, but have lost OWA functionality from the
front end - I am able to see the logon screen, but I get an HTTP500 error
when attempting to authenticate.

I am able to use OWA directly to the backend.

There are no errors in the application or event logs on either the front or
backend end servers.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Wayne

Exchange Servers Setup >> Exchaneg 2003 SP2 OWA Any customizations you would have done may be over written. Are you
still using the /exchange URL to access from your front end?

Exchange Servers Setup >> Exchaneg 2003 SP2 OWA Hi Paula,

Thanks for responding.

Yes, we are still using /exchange to access.

We don't have any customisations (other than to use Forms Based
Authentication).

I've now checked every MS KB article I could find ... even deleted IIS and
OWA virtual servers and restored them (KB883380).

I think it may be time for a call to PSS.

Wonder if I can get my weekend back from backups :o)

Exchange Servers Setup >> Exchaneg 2003 SP2 OWA I managed to find and fix the problem. The problem was that the information
stores and the server object for the backend server were not inheriting
permissions. By enabling inheritance, the problem was resolved.

Note to self - ALWAYS run EXBPA against a problem exchange server, as this
is what identified the problem.
