Exchange Servers Admin >> Exchange 2003 link
Well, it is configured for https so OWA works with
https://server/exchange, it's just this link that doesn't.

Does this work? https://server/exchange/username
If not, what "username" is he using? It should be the <local-part> of
his SMTP address in the default domain.
https://server/exchange/joe.blow should put him in his mailbox and
https://server/exchange/joe.blow/calendar should put him into his
Calendar folder.
