Last week I created a C++ project and by mistake instead of making it a win32 project I made it a .net project. I realized this and deleted the .net project and then tried to create another project with the same name, but this time it was win32 console application.

Now I am not able to create win32 projects any more. All I get is a blank screen when I slelect win32 console project (and select any name for the project). Is there some directory or registry entry that I need to reset

Thanks for any quick help!

Hari

Hello!

I was wondering if my previous post in this thread misled people to think that I do not have a problem. (I meant that only that particular message was to be ignored, since I was not sure if my first posting made it to the forum or not).

So if anyone has any idea on what the issue could be with the blank screen while creating a c++ win32 project, please let me know.

Thanks

Hari

I don't understand; as far as I understand what you say, I have not seen that happen. It seems to me that your Visual Studio (VS) has a problem. It is easy for me to suggest that you run the VS setup again, but it is not so easy for you. Something else that is not so easy to do is to get a copy of the windows that you see and store them in a file in a web site then link to them from here. I don't know if that will help but that is the only help I can provide.

One thing that is important is to ensure you are providing all relevant information. It seems strange that you are getting a total blank screen. If that is not totally accurate, then it might be critical to be accurate. What happens after the blank screen What do you need to do to get rid of it; or to get past it or whatever. If there is a relevant window after the blank screen, then it could help to know about that.

You don't provide very much information, and perhaps there is not anything more you can provide. If however there is more, then it might be that we need it to help you solve the problem.

Let me see if I can make my problem clearer.

When I try to add a new VC++ project and choose win32 console project, the window that shows up where enter the properties such as name, etc. is completely blank and I cannot enter anything. I just have to kill that window by clicking on the 'X' mark.

I have thought about reinstalling vs2003, but I am a little nervous to do that since I also have vs 2005 installed and if I install vs2003, I may need to reinstall vs2005 too (that seems to be our experience). This will take at least one whole day!

For now I had a workaround, I created the project on someone else's machine and added it to my solution. But it will be nice to have a fix for this.

Are there any logs that I can provide you that can help debug the issue

Thanks
