Not sure what your error is caused by, please post specific issues you have with SP1 in a new thread/post (i wish to keep this for info about the SP only)

By the way, the VS2005 SP1 update for Windows Vista (beta) add-on has been released (just yesterday)

A fix list has now been published (in actuality it is only a very small subset of the full fix list)

How do you uninstall VS2005 SP1 And will that really get me back to what I had or should I just reinstall VS2005 from scratch

Hi,

I just installed SP1 for VSC# Express, but I also have several other Express Editions including C++ express and Web Developer. Does installing SP1 for C# install it for all the other editions, or do I have to download it for each copy separately Looking at the about dialogs in each of the programs, it just shows something like:

Version 8.0.50727.762 (SP.050727-7600)

I seem to remember it having an RTM, so I'm assuming it installed it for each copy

Yes, you only need to download and install once.

Just a quick note. Don't forget to update your targets' redistributables or your application may not run! I got bit by this in a particularly **** fashion: my development machine is Windows 2000 and my coworker's machine is too. I don't know if that is the reason or not but the VC++ 2005 SP1-recompiled application ran fine on his machine (he does not have VS2005). I know his machine is not up to date (he doesn't like Windows Update) so I don't think his WinSxS folder was up to date, either. However, when I copied the application to a Windows XP Pro SP2 machine (which is not Internet connected so it doesn't get updates), the application did not run. The real **** problem was that the application is a package of one native DLL and a mixed EXE, where the former loads the latter. The DLL is optional so the product did not complain and we found out about the issue after we saw no functionality from the add-on. The EXE would run if executed directly (although it has no functionality on its own) so it took me a while to figure this out. What I ended up doing is run the latest vcredist_x86.exe on the target machine and everything was back to normal. Scary.

If you've applied SP1, then in your C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\BootStrapper\Packages\vcredist_x86 folder.

I don't see a vcredist_x86 folder there, even though I have installed SP1. I was just told on another thread that it is not yet available for VC++ Express...
