Dear all

I have been thinking the last few days of a best way to achieve this task:

I have two pieces of software. They are both independent application and are final products.(i cant modify the soure). But they both provide an API listing methods that i might want to use to extend some functionality. What i would like to do is as follows:

If i am in PROGRAM A and i click the mouse i would like to transfer the mouse click to PROGRAM B.Or if i drag the mouse in PROGRAM A i would like to do the same event in PROGRAM B and vice versa. The API specifies how to do the clicks and drags in both applications but the problem is how to initiate those functions......

I was doing some work and i can identify the window handles and thought that i can send something through ::SendMessage(WM_COPYDATA...... Am i on the right track

There must be some better way to do this....Call the functions from the API from eachothers set Would that be possible
RPC Or something else

I would apreciate any help

Cheers

You will get better answers in a forum or newsgroup in which the subject is Windows.

It is not clear to me if you are totally unable to modify the source or if you can modify the source a little bit but not modify it in any way that alters the way it works. If you can make minor changes to the source, then you should say that in your question that you ask elsewhere.

The source can Not be modified. I only have the API that i can use to maybe enhance the functionality and provide what i am after.

Since you cannot modify the source, you need a solution that goes beyond IPC; that is why you are having difficulty figuring out how to use IPC. You need something more. Since this is off-topic for this forum, I won't try to provide details but note that what you need to do is quite advanced. Be prepared to spend time learning. You are likely to get some help in a forum or newsgroup in which this is included in the defined topics but don't be surprised if people expect you to learn enough to understand how to use the suggestions.
