On Windows XP, port 445 can be disabled by setting the SMBDeviceEnabled registry key to 0. This forces file sharing traffic to use ports 137, 138, and/or 139.
It appears that the SMBDeviceEnabled registry key no longer exists in Windows Vista.
How can I disable port 445 on Vista. Or, put another way, how can I force file sharing traffic to use NetBIOS over TCP/IP
