I have on one installation some difficulties with the following message in the Event log:

"... unable ot open shim database version registry key - v2.0.50727.00000".

This event is logged everytime a .Net service tries to connect to a COM-component. It seems, that this error is the reason for all queries to this .Net remoting service are very slow, the service is using the COM-component very often.

The link to re resolution-patch given in the knowledge base article 918642 does not work, so this fix is not available.

Could someone give me some hints, how to avoid this error (the error does not occur on my develepment computer)

Hello,

the problem of the link was, that my profile for the Microsoft communities was not complete.

After filling in my complete address, the link now works and the update did correct the bug.
