Reading/writing ASCII files

I have a set of ASCII files that are space delimited that are not necessarily related, so I do not need to keep them related using keys. Can I read these into a DataSet The reason I question this is because there are no real column headings, so I'm not sure how I would keep track of where I am when I go to edit the information. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If it is not structured, then the only way I see you could do it is to open the file using FileReader and parse it using your own code. Then you could load values into the DataTable. In a case if file is structured, you could use Jet OLEDB provider to load the data directly into the DataTable using SQL statement

These files hold raster data that describe a pixel on a map. Each pixel holds five different descriptive values that I need to be able to edit. I know how many columns and rows in each file so I do have bounds lucky enough.
