HELP! I have noticed that the last few times the computer has restarted there has been an odd file lurking in the background as an error. I can bring it forward with Alt Tab, which I do to see if something has initiated without me knowing etc...Now this file was written to my program files January 5, 2007 around 3:41 AM, I have an extensive firewall/security system in place. This file shows up and Service PAck 2, IE7 appear not to be running. The full file name is: 7ef482543e0fedf496d43f27467c82285KB when I click on properties etc... after I isolated it I found the other extensions msxml4-KB927978-enu.log; Now I am concerned . Help before it is too late ..... The last time I tried to download SP2 the whole computer crashed, it's an HP, without all the pre-loaded junk, I pulled it from the BSOD once. I am a self taught 40 yr old UNIX turned NT Network Admin. at our office by necessity. I hate not being able to write in command lines, and listen to beeps.

See this knowledge base entry that explains why you could have that log file on your system. It is a log file of a recent MSXML 4 security update.
