Can't Find "Help" in VB6 IDE

Visual Studio321
I have had to install a new motherboard on my multi-boot system. The OS I

normally use is Win 2000 on drive Q: (no jokes please!). Naturally I had to

reload the OS and reinstall all programs that I use.

Even though I have reinstalled the VB6 and the MSDN help files, VB6 says it

cannot find "Help".

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling.VB, but to no avail. I even

uninstalled the copies of VB6 in the other OS's (Win 98 on drive C: and Win

XP on drive R:). At each stage I cleaned out the registry using RegSupreme

and erased all files in the VB6 directory. Since there are no other copies

of VB6 on my hard disk, and the registry of Win 2000 is new, I am at a loss

as to what to do.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

aha!

this may explain why I can't get help on any ado questions

from another link on that page

When you try to access ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) documentation from within

Visual Basic by pressing F1 from the code editor or from within the object

browser, nothing occurs, or you receive one of the following error messages:

Unable to display help

-or-

No help available

This problem occurs because the following items must exist to access

context-sensitive help for ADO in the Visual Basic IDE:

snip

To resolve this problem, follow these steps

snip

Note This resolution does not work for ADO 2.7. New versions of the

Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) from January 2002 are designed for

Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and they cannot integrate with Microsoft Visual

Studio 6.0 products.

so since i'm using ado2.8 does that mean there's no way to get help (for

ado) in vb6?

thanks

Mark

Re:Can't Find "Help" in VB6 IDE

Thanks. This worked.

I had searched the KB for this problem but for some reason this page was not

returned.

If you can find a copy of the older help files then dump

them in you Windows/Help directory. They may even already be

on your PC somewhere but they need to be in that help

directory if you want VB to use them

So for example VB should still pick up the 2.7 help even

though your using 2.8
