Re:Server for home lab?

Looks like you can upgrade to 256MB for no additional charge. There was no

price listed for 256MB.

256MB is probably enough for home lab purposes.

Why buy a new computer for a home based evaluation server?? I picked up a

used 1.7gig with 256 ram for half that amount. The only thing I added was a

swappable hard drive setup, So, I could use it for testing of Linux also.

Re:Server for home lab?

i have been seeing these Dell celeron server deals for a while. it's

nothing new. i shy away from the "celeron" label. but it's fine i guess.

it does look like you can up the RAM to 256 at no change to price.

i would add the promise card and 2 nd HD (or buy one independently) that

way you can play around with the RAID stuff.

looks like you can get "Travan 40, Formatted Tape Media Cartridge, 1

Pack" at no extra $$$. might as well grab it and sell it i guess. will

off set the server cost.

Because for a home lab, it don't matter so such. Hardly going to have

to offer 100% availability, processing a million transactions an hour,
