In a future world, when people look for jobs, they will be able to do it at a click of a button, and send their resume to 50,000 employers overnight. And the 50,000 employers will be able to click the 'deny' button instantaneously. However, I have arrived at one simple conclusion: Occasionally, one guy might accidentally click the 'accept' button. Keep clicking that button. Another similar thing occurs to me, and this may be the one saving grace of living among humans. People make mistakes. Right now, there's a guy making 100,000 a year that doesn't know what he's doing, and got hired for all the wrong reasons. So, no matter how bad it seems, I might as well keep clicking that button. Rather than being frustrated that I'm not immediately finding the work that I know how to do, would be underpaid and overqualified to do, or could probably manage to do if I had the chance, perhaps I should consider the possibility of simply trying to find a job that I've got absolutely no business whatsoever trying to get, seeing if anyone would be dumb enough to hire me, and say to myself: stranger things have happened. Special thanks to The Rev and Frisbee over this weekend for proving something I think we all have to believe in: There are good people out there. They might not be able to do anything for you, but they are willing to try, and in the end, that's all that matters. A friend in need is a friend indeed. Microcephalic S. Bob - |
