HI all turned on VS2005 this morning and had a shock. My Tool Bar has gone hay wire The General tab has renamed itself #13119 and my Report Item Tab has replaced all the reporting controls with text boxes when I chose for a reset all it does is add another text box in the tab. So I reinstalled/repaired VS2005 and the problem has not been fixed does any one know what i have done to mess my system up and more importantly how to rectify the problem. Many thanks

I've had problems in the past with add-ins messing up the toolbox. Some addins reinstall themselves each time which makes it even worse. I've also seen an occasional problem with the icons all getting reset to a default icon when the toolbox is set up to auto-add controls for projects that are loaded.

Nevertheless the toolbox settings are per user so you can reset them completely by deleting the files toolbox.tbd and toolboxIndex.tbd from %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0. This will force a reset of the toolbox from the default Visual Studio settings. In theory this is what happens when you reset the TB within VS so the original toolbox settings may be mangled. I don't know where the default toolbox settings are stored.

Run the repair for SQL Server to restore the reporting packages if /resetskippkgs doesn't work.
