I am working on a machine running MS Visual Studio 2003. After I create and code a project, when it comes to compile&run I get the following message:

Error while trying to run project: Unable to start debugging.

Access is denied. Verify that you are an administrator or a member of the 'Debuger Users' group on the machine you are trying to debug. After being added to the 'Debuger Users' group, you must log off and log back on for the settings to apply

Are you an Administrator or member of the "De**** Users" group as the message says...

I currently am in the administrator account on my computer, but I unfortunately don't know how to set values for the de**** user group...

Is this an ASP.net application If so go into control panel than users. Find your User name and click properties. At the bottom is other users and one of the selections is debug user.

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately we are currently dealing with pure C# codes. But one of our co-workers think that de**** of of a Java Development Software might change the settings of the de**** and might cause this error. Could this possible, and how can we fix the problem

Have you tried a repair of the current VS installation

Today, I got the same error.. I tried everything, registry editing, adding ASPNET user to de**** users group, etc... I think somehow my windows users corrupted or something..
By the way, my C: drive is FAT32 and all the others NTFS. I moved my inetpub directory to an NTFS drive and it solved. (Now VS.Net and IE ask me my administrator password but at least it works..)

If your inetpub directory is in a FAT partition, try to move it to an NTFS directory where you can easily change user rights..

We have re-formatted the machine and re-installed VS as well as all other applications. Surely a long and a tough way but it's all fixed now.
