I have a dbf with following fields

bill no, bill date, cust name, item name, qty, rate, amount

and i have 553 records. i want a simple report on 132 column stationary. i dont want totals also. (so no page footer or summary). i used visual foxpro report writer. but the report does not print with proper ejection i.e. second page starts printing from bottom of first page and third page prints from bottom of second page and so on. printer is absolutely fine because documents from excel and word print with proper page breaks.

can anybody help

Because we are confused about what you want.

You have to set the page length for your printer.  Make sure you click on the FILE Menu and choose Page Setup.  There is also settings that allow you to tell the program when there is not enough room and to start a new page.

Try creating a QUICK REPORT from the reports menu and add your database.  Print that and let us know how it works.

>>why dont u ansewer this question

First, may I remind you that all people here are volunteers who give their time and expertise, for nothing, to the community. No-one who answers a question here gets paid anything for doing so. Not even the Forum Moderators, like myself, we are all volunteers.

Presumably you need the answer to this question for something to do with your work, for which YOU expect to be paid, and yet you are demanding help from someone who will NOT be paid for giving it

My advice to you is to remember that: "Those who beg favors from others had better do so politely"

I don't know where you come from, or what your background is, but your implication that someone is, somehow, refusing to give you an answer is extremely offensive. Any repetition of this sort of behavior and I will not bother to reply but simply remove your postings from the forum.

Do you understand what I am saying

I think u are completely mistaken about me.

i am a small time foxpro for windows 2.6 programmer from bangalore, india. i am just trying to upgrade myself to visual foxpro. i have got about 5 years programming experience in foxpro on dos and windows i.e. all. i never ever think of forcing somebody to answer my question. i always wanted to answer somebody's question if at all i know them. i joined this forum only to gain knowledge and if possible help somebody. i never ever think of forcing myself. i am a person who wants to help(if possible) and gain knowledge by requesting (not by force).

Suppose if i have hurt u or any members of this forum, then i am extremely sorry. Suppose if my answer is very bad u can kindly correct me. i am only looking forward for gaining knowledge. that is all. from now onwards i try to answer only if i know that it is 100 % correct or i only read other's answers and try to gain knowledge.

anyway again i ask your apology, if i have hurt u. i never meant to hurt ur feelings or anybody's. i am feeling very bad about it.

looking forward to here from u that u have pardoned me.

thanks

The only setting you have is on th report PROPERTIES page.

I don't believe there is a "custom" length setting any more - that relates to the days when you could create your lown local Fox "driver" for a printer, but now everything goes through the Windows print layer and all control is there.

I guess you are still using DOS to print.

Use this command to create your report file

modify report Your_Report_File

and this command:

report form Your_Report_File preview

to display on the screen to check.

No, I am using visual foxpro'r Report Writer. i think i have to select the paper size 8.5"/12". i was selecting us std fan fold which is 8.5"/11". 132 column stationary in india has 8.5"/12" size. some times in win 98 even if i select 8.5"/12" then also it will print wrongly. i dont know the reason. secondly in win xp for printer driver there is no custom size setup. actually my question was how to get the custom size in printer properties. Kindly help me with a general printer driver which has custom paper size setup.

thanks

If you use std fan fold, you have to stick to the paper used on dot matrix printers, (with holes on both ends.)

You also have to pay attantion to the page shape, portrait or landscape in the report design screen.

no. us std fanfold is paper size. i am putting the paper in spraket. i.e. sticking the paper in holes. and it is a portrait layout.

but i came to know that us std fanfold is 8.5"/11". where as 132 column stationary in india is 12". only thing what surprises me is documents from excel and word print correctly even on us std fanfold paper but i think visual foxpro report writer is not providing very good features for dot matrix printing. but it supports ink jet and laser printers very well.

i just need a printer driver for TVSE Printers which has custom size in it.

thanks and regards

Go here:

http://www.tvse.com/index1.asp

and download the latest printer drivers for you model of printer and for your O/S. I assume that you are using one of their Indian language printers. It sounds as if you may have a printer driver problem. You need to remember, VFP report writer works on top of windows. If you are encountering problems with other Windows application and this printer, the problem is most likely a driver issue - not a VFP issue.

Thank You very much sir(Ken Murphy), but i have only one doubt. can u kindly tell me "when u print from a single table on a continuous stationary 132 column (i.e. width is 132 characters) what is the size of paper that u choose."

thanks and regards
