Excel Misc >> How do I enter time without colons?

Trying to save key strokes in data entry. How do I convert 1230 to 12:30
without having to type in the colon every time?

Thanks!

Excel Misc >> How do I enter time without colons? Are you bothered if the result e.g. 12:30 is recognised
as TEXT as opposed to a time format? In other words, will
you be performing any other operations with the numbers
which require recognition of a TIME format?

Are you entering with a 24 hour number format e.g 2315
1945 etc. and how are you entering morning times e.g 0745
or 745?

I do not know of a conventional way to do what you asked
but have derived a formula to do so. All you would need
to do is type in your times and then apply the formula.
So if your times are in column A as 2315 1230 745 etc
then you can type the formula in cell B1, drag down, and
then cut and paste your amended times with the colon into
column A.

If you answer the above questions I can get you the
correct formula.

Alternatively, other contirbutors with greater Excel
prowess may suggest are far simpler method than mine
