When doing reports for school, i print several pages of the same each time
making changes. I have a date feild in the header to tell me the date i
printed it, but i would also like a function of code to autommaticly increace
by one. This would give me some idea of what coppies of my report came
first. This feature is sort-of a version number that updates on print. (or
on save depending on option)

A simple answer (which I use in a similar situation) which hopefully will
suffice.
Have a button that runs a macro to print but also moves the reference on by
1 each time. For example Cell A1 could hold the issue number - say 8 (the
last reference printed) - cell A2 is 1.The macro would move the reference on
by 1 and print.
Range("B1").Select
Selection.Copy
Range("A1").Select
Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlAll, Operation:=xlAdd, SkipBlanks:=False _
, Transpose:=False
Application.CutCopyMode = False
ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets.PrintOut Copies:=1, Collate:=True
Hope this helps.

You could always just add a time field.
