win2000 >> Cannot Boot

When I try to boot my computer it gets to Starting
Windows Screen and I get the error message "Windows could
not start because the following file is missing or
corrupt: \WINNT\STSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEMced
Then it mentions that I can repair the file by starting
windows Setup by using the Floppy Diks or Windows 2000 CD
and select 'r' at the first screen.
How do I fix this problem? How do I go about repairing
the file? I have tried booting form the CD itself, but I
get the same problem.
I have also tried to boot from the Floppy Disks but after
the forth disk I get the STOP message "C0000221 Hard
Error SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dll."
If all else fails I would like to reformat, but I cannot
because I get the stop message when trying to boot from
the floppy disks.
Is there another way to reformat?

win2000 >> Cannot Boot If the system hive is corrupt, and assuming you already tried LKG, It may be
possible to rename the system hive found in
%windir%\system32\config\system
to system.old
then rename
%windir%\system32\config\system.alt
to
%windir%\system32\config\system

You can also try using the most recent backup found in
%windir%\repair\regback

If that fails you haven't much choice but to copy/ use the
original-as-installed system hive from
%windir%\repair\system
to
%windir%\system32\config\system
You'll need to reinstall the device drivers for any hardware added since the
original OS install.

To start the Recovery Console, start the computer from the Windows 2000
Setup CD or the Windows 2000 Setup floppy disks. If you do not have Setup
floppy disks and your computer cannot start from the Windows 2000 Setup CD,
use another Windows 2000-based computer to create the Setup floppy disks.
Press ENTER at the "Setup Notification" screen. Press R to repair a Windows
2000 installation, and then press C to use the Recovery Console. The
Recovery Console then prompts you for the administrator password. If you do
not have the correct password, Recovery Console does not allow access to the
computer. If an incorrect password is entered three times, the Recovery
Console quits and restarts the computer. Note If the registry is corrupted
or missing or no valid installations are found, the Recovery Console starts
in the root of the startup volume without requiring a password. You cannot
access any folders, but you can carry out commands such as chkdsk, fixboot,
and fixmbr for limited disk repairs. Once the password has been validated,
you have full access to the Recovery Console, but limited access to the hard
disk. You can only access the following folders on your computer:
%systemroot% and %windir%

win2000 >> Cannot Boot This article is exactly what you need:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;269075

The article says its to do with a 'ATA66 PCI controller card'.

I hope this helps

win2000 >> Cannot Boot To all who have replied,
I cannot preform any of the fixes that you described
because I cannot enter Windows Setup. When I boot from
the floppy disks I get a stop error "C0000221 Hard Error
SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dll." When I try booting from
the CD I get the "Windows could not start because the
following file is missing or corrupt: \WINNT\STSTEM32
\CONFIG\SYSTEMced" error message. Hoe else can I fix this
problem?

win2000 >> Cannot Boot Possibly set the boot order in cmos setup to CD-Rom first in boot sequence.
Also look for the keystroke (if necessary) at POST to force boot from CD-Rom
drive or check your mb/pc manual for instructions.
