- Crm >> Locking Down and Securing CRM v3.0I'm looking for some examples of how people are securing access to CRM data.
We currently use a combination of CRM roles and c360 for field level
security to limit users access to the data that impacts their job or duties.
However, when using the CRM Outlook client, c360 does not carry over
offline. This leaves data open to users when they are offline. These offline
users can modify any data they wish (depending on their role). These updates
are then synched when they go online.
Has anyone written any custom code or have another solution that will allow
CRM to be secured when offline?
Thanks,
James (Jimmie)

- Money >> Duplicate entriesHi,
For some reason, MS Money 2006 duplicates entries when it converts data
from an earlier version of Money.
It does not do at it first but only after it has imported the data and
after I close it and open again.
Any ideas on how to prevent Money from doing this or a very easy way to
remove duplicate transactions (e.g., not manually).
Thanks ahead of time.

- SBS >> VPN Clients not working over DSLHi
I seem to have a problem with clients connecting to our SBS 2003/ISA through
VPN.
If the clients dialup to the internet then they can connect to the VPN.
But if the clients are on a DSL connection they cannot connect to the VPN.
I have tried using just a basic NAT router rather than a firewall router in
front of the remote client - to see if the firewall was blocking the
connection (with no success).
I read somewhere that this could be an MTU problem but I have reduced the
MTU of the network card - still no success.
Any help would be great
Thanks Ben

- SBS >> long storyi just got employed in this company, they have a complicated story and i need
some advices ..
they have 2 servers, 1 sbs2k3 server, and another server with the "1st cd of
sbs" installed only ( diferent server license off course).
on the second server (the one with the 1st sbs cd installed only) they are
running SQL server with database for accounting. while the 1st server have
the other services like AD, exchange , internet , fax .. etc ...
since sbs doesn't allow to have another server within the same network, the
2nd server has always caused shuting down problem after 1 hour from booting.
the old administrator made a trick here by installing on the 2nd server
active directory using (dcpromo) and choosing to have this active directory
under the 1st server (the one with full sbs instalion on it).
this thing will give him a week before the second server start to shutdown
again ... so after a week he removes the active directory again, and the
server will give him another week .... to repeat the same step every week ...
now as the new administrator, i think i have 2 options:
1- keep doing what the old administrator use to do.
2- backup and format everything, and isntall everything on 1 server only and
get rid of the 2nd server ( not really accepted by the company, they want
their both servers to be used) and also, formating is not an easy simple step
to do .. with all the data installed (exchange sql and others).
finaly, what do u suggest ? hope i made it clear and thanks alot for ur time

Money >> Debt Reduction Planner Problem
Hi, I have a problem with my Debt Reduction Planner and am hoping that
someone will be able to help. I currently set up a plan to pay $1250 /
month. After linking all bills to this plan, I pay the first bill. For some
reason, once paid, all the other bills in my bill planner that have not yet
been paid and are linked to my plan, increase automatically as if to say the
original bill was never linked to my plan. For example:
Planned Amount : $1250/month - The following amounts are automatically
calculated by the debt planner:
Bill 1 Due 11/2 - $500
Bill 2 Due 11/15 - $200
Bill 3 Due 11/20 - $200
Bill 4 Due 11/27 - $350
My problem has been this: On 11/1 after I pay the first bill of $500
associated with my debt plan, one of the other bills will increase as if the
one that was just paid was never associated with my plan. It will look
something like this:
Bill 2 Due 11/15 - $700
Bill 3 Due 11/20 - $200
Bill 4 Due 11/27 - $350
I really like the idea of the debt reduction planner, but cannot afford to
pay the increases in bills. Is this happening to anyone else? Is it a bug
or is there some way that I can fix it? I apologize for the long post, but I
didn't know how else to get my problem accross. Thanks in advance for your
help!

Money >> Debt Reduction Planner Problem
I have exactly the same problem. So far, I have read about a lot of
difficulties with the debt planner, and people are recommending going into
tools and resetting the debt planner, then setting up the plan over again
when all of the 'next due' payments are in the following month. I am going
to try that, but don't know if it will solve the problem. In any case, this
is a bizarre bug, in the sense that it certainly should have shown up in beta
testing and been fixed.

Money >> Debt Reduction Planner Problem
I suspect that this is one of those bugs whereby the effort required to fix
it far outweighs the, relatively, minor pain and, perhaps, the small number
of users that it affects.

If it is not fixable, this would make the "bills created from the debt

One solution I seem to recall being posted is to start over with the DRP and
when restarting it to only have bills occurring in the following month.

Money >> Debt Reduction Planner Problem
That seemed to work okay, but after paying the first bill, the same problem
arose. Say I budgeted $1000 for debt per month. After I ran the debt
planner, it came out with suggested bills, and entered them into my bill
calander. After I paid the first bill that was due (say for example $100 to
Chase Bank), one or all of the remaining bills for that month increased
automatically (as if I had never paid the chase bill). I just want all the
bills that were created from the debt planner to follow the debt plan as I
originally set it up. Does this make sense? Thanks so much for your
willingness to help me.

- SVCS >> Subreport using DataSet DPE that could return 0 rows throws errorsI have a custom DPE that implements the IDataReader interface, setting the
internal source data as a DataSet. The dataset contains a single table which
could potentially contain 0 rows, depending upon the report parameters.
My particular problem is with subreports. If the subreport's dataset has 0
rows, I get a "Error: Subreport could not be shown" error. I suspect that
any dataregion that is bound to the custom DPE that returns 0 rows will have
trouble as I see #Error in other places in the main report as well when the
dataset it is bound to has 0 rows.
I have tried hiding the dataregion by checking with CountRows(), but the
error seems to get thrown before this.
I have also tried setting the NoRows property of the subreport, but again it
seems to error before it can check for no rows.
Any ideas?

Edition (which I had been happily using until then) I found that the
CD was unreadable. I tried copying the folder from my old hard drive
to the new hard drive but could not get the install repair to work -
even though it should have done so without the CDROM (technical issues
to follow in case anyone knows how to hack .inf files)
Now I went to buy Microsoft Money 2004, but they only have the
Standard Canadian version which does not track investments. I then
donwloaded Money 2004 Deluxe trial from Microsoft's site but it would
not convert the Money 98 files.
I have been keeping records since 1997 and I would like to use the
data and not start again with a new product. Does anyone have any
information? Maybe a copy of Money 98 Deluxe Canadian Ed. still
around? (I have a valid licence but Microsoft says that they can't
replace my CD). Any other solutions to try and export my qif files for
each indivisual account and then import them into another programme
like quicken, etc? I can still boot from my old hard drive and export
the files using the working version of Money 98.
Thanks for any help... Here are the technical details...
I copied the installed version of Money 98 from my old laptop. There
is a setup.exe file and it says that I can repair the installation
without needing the CD. When I try to reinstall the program this way,
the computer chokes when trying to find the Internet Explorer files,
specifically htmlctrl.exe. When I look in the Money98.inf file for
installation I find this section that I shouldn't be needed since I
already have IE6 installed:
[IESetup]
"msie302_exe"= 1,msie302.exe,,,,1997-09-23,,1033,ALWAYS,,,,,,,6521488,,,,4.71.603.0,
"amovie_exe"= 1,amovie.exe,,,,1997-09-23,,1033,ALWAYS,,,,,,,1058376,,,,4.70.0.1145,
"htmlctrl_exe"= 1,htmlctrl.exe,,,,1997-09-23,,1033,ALWAYS,,,,,,,1080920,,,,4.70.0.1168,
When I try to remove this section, the installer also does not like
this and it won't complete the installation. When I run Money98 is
starts, but then chokes as it says that the installation was not
complete.

- SBS >> Out of office not working!I'm having a strange problem with the out of office assistant. I have a few
clients running SBS2003 Standard and I've noticed the issue with all of them.
I've enabled the out of office assistant in the users outlook (2000) and have
made the change in global-internet messaging- allow Out of office assistant
for internet on the exchange server.
Basicly sometimes the assistant works on the local network and sometimes it
doesn't. It seems to have a mind of its own. It never works if someone from
outside the network sends something.
Any ideas? I'm stumped!

- SVCS >> Access to Table Cells (Textboxes) Outside the TableHi,
I have two tables and would like to base another textbox aggregate
(outside of both tables), on the aggregate result cells from each
table. I don't think this is possible, but if anyone knows how please
let me know.
Table A (using DataSet A)
Table B (using DataSet B)
I want a textbox with an aggregate (Sum) which equals: #1) a Textbox in
Table A (which is a group aggregate) + #2) a Textbox in Table B (which
is another group aggregate).
Thanks,

- SBS >> Upgrade from NT4 to SBS 2003 stdHi,
I'd like to upgrade my NT4 server to SBS2003 std. I know this can't be done
directly, but wondered if I could upgrade it to win2003 std (using an MSDN
disk) and then upgrade that to SBS 2003 with the disks I've bought.
Would this work and are there any licensing implications?
Thanks in advance.

- Compact >> Can Compact WCF be extended for duplex communication?I am trying to confirm whether duplex communication is at all possible using
.NET Compact Framework support for WCF. Our Windows CE device is not a
mobile device and I would think some sort of duplex communication should be
supported. However, I see where only basic http & custom bindings are
supported. Basic Http obviously won't meet my needs, but I also don't even
see how custom bindings can help me. I would need to write a custom channel,
but it doesn't seem that will meet my goals either. ChannelBase is supported
by the Compact Framework, however IDuplexChannel is not.
I guess I'm looking for comfirmation ( positive or negative) on whether
Compact WCF can be extended to support duplex communication w/ a device
running Windows CE.
Thanks,

- SVCS >> Default value for a parameter using Expression - ERROR (again)I posted this last week, and no one answered :-( If at first you don't
succeed...
************************************************************
I am trying to use the following expression to establish the default
value for a parameter:
="SELECT DefLib FROM Users WHERE (UserName = SUBSTRING('" & User!UserID
& "', 6, LEN('" & User!UserID & "') - 5))"
The User!UserID resolves as the domain\username or "AERO\username"
When I run the report with this expression in the default value of the
parameter, I get the error:
An unexpected error occurred in Report Processing.
Input string was in the wrong format.
I can use the following query in SQL Query Analyzer to successfully
return all records (or a specific record if I substitute an actual
username).
SELECT DefLib FROM Users WHERE (UserName = SUBSTRING('Aero\' +
UserName, 6, LEN('Aero\' + UserName) - 5))
The return value DefLib is type Int... The value field for the
parameter is also an integer. Why would I receive this error if the
datatypes are the same?
TIA,
Ferd
