- Money >> Money 2005 reports wrong after setting up new categoryI have several years of my checking account recorded in Money 2005. In
generating a 2007 annual report, I decided to create a new expense category.
Only the entry that included the new sub-category setup showed up in the
report by category. Several other entries were changed to this sub-category
in the same session. These entries no do not show up in the new sub-category
in the report by category, but they do in the Account Register. How do I fix
this? My copy of Money 2005 incudes the latest updates.
Don't know if this is pertinent -- In Aug my computer crashed. After the
computer was replaced, I reinstalled Money 2005 and my lost file from
Microsoft on line. Some info was missing, such as which entries had been
reconciled with the bank, and the current balance in the account was
incorrect. This error was fixed by a corrective entry. The expense category
of all entries seemed to be intact. My report covers a period both before
and after the crash.
After multiple efforts a few years ago to update my email address with
Windows LiveID, nothing worked, hence Windows LiveID still carries an
obsolete email address. Please find my correct email address before the

- SVCS >> Object reference not set to an instance of an objectI've created a Report with parameters. When a complete these and execute the
report I'm having this message:
"An error has occurred during report processing.
Query execution failed for data set 'Disponibilidad'.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
It a simple query. Nothing complicated.
If I replace the paramaters with fixed data it works fine. Could be a
problem with Oracle? The DB is an Oracle 8 and I have installed the Oracle 9

When I download my bank accounts checking and savings 2007 shows Items to

Am I missing something?

- SBS >> Tape drive recommendationHi
We have run out of our 20GB DDS drive and are looking for a tape drive with
capacity to last for at least a couple of years. I am contemplating this
external DLT drive;
http://dellware.euro.dell.com/dellstore/dellware/config/default.asp?s=ukbsd&l=en&m=gbp&c=UK5776&n=&cu=ukbsd&v=d&cc=&ogn=&kcd=&ad=&mc=&rs=&cuid=&cg=&pch=1&pn=0&demo=&gc=&sbc=none&co=&b=DUK_440-10349
This way we don't have to get rid of the internal dds drive to read from the
existing tapes. Here are the questions;
- Is the above DLT drive any good quality & reliability wise?
- What is the capacity of this drive. I can't seem to find it anywhere.
- Would it being external have any impact on its compatibility with the
sbs2003 backup?
Thanks

- Crm >> CRM 3.0 Synchronization with Exchange / Outlook ContactsWe have a database of over 9,000 customer contacts and one of the key
reasons that we decided to work with MS CRM 3.0 instead of another product
was based on the assumption that we'd be able to leverage the significant
investment we have in our Exchange database - we thought that the Exchange
router would do the trick of synchronizing the contacts between Exchange pub
folders and the CRM database, but it suprisingly doesn't.
This seems like a very basic concept that the product would support and I'm
hoping that I'm simply overlooking something in the documentation. However,
the only documentation that I can find indicates that we have to export all
the Exchange contacts to a CSV/TXT and then import them. Isn't there any
way to synchronize the contacts between Exchange and CRM so that our users
can send email/faxes from either Exchange or CRM?
Ideally, we'd like to import the contacts into CRM once, and then have the
program synch up any changes/additions that are made in either the CRM
contacts, or the Exchange pub folder contacts on an ongoing basis going
forward.
Does anyone know of any documentation that exists that covers data synch
between Exchange and CRM in more detail? Documentation for this product is
pretty bad from what I have seen so far. The Implementation Guide that
comes with CRM just mentions concepts without any detail about how to
actually implement most of them, and is sorely lacking any detailed content.
There isn't much in the way of thourough documentation on this (shipping)
product that is availalable. We really expected that this Microsoft product
would be tightly integrated with Microsoft's own email server and I'm hoping
that someone out there can help fill in the gaps.
Thank you so much!

A Kid Released Worm That Attacked Microsoft Web Site
A second person, a juvenile, has been sentenced
in connection with the release of a computer worm
in August 2003 that attacked the same vulnerability
in computer software as the Blaster worm did.
The worm -- often referred to as the RPCSDBOT

a computer (i.e., an Internet Relay Chat channel)
that the juvenile controlled. On August 14, 2003,
the juvenile directed the infected computers to

against Microsoft's main web site causing the
site to shutdown and thus became inaccessible
to the public for approximately four hours.
The juvenile was 14 years old when the activity
occurred.

- Crm >> Workflow Emails Sent to Titles not UsersI need to set up emails from a workflow that send to groups based on their
titles not user names or owner manager, etc.
i.e. I want to send an opportunity won email to "sales manager", "vp of

These titles can reside in Active directory or the CRM system user base
table but how can I tell the email template/workflow to send to users based
on titles only. The thought being that if a user quits and a new person
assumes this title/position he/she will start getting these emails with no
change to the workflow needed. This can be done in Salesforce.com and of
course a client we have who switched from it wants the same thing. Sure makes
sense to me.
Any ideas?

SBS >> Users getting locked out
Hi Mark,
it can be any number of things. E.g. old password used to map network
shares, trojan etc.
You can try and use this Microsoft tool (free download) to pinpoint the
service that is causing the problem.
Account Lockout and Management Tools
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=7AF2E69C-91F3-4E63-8629-B999ADDE0B9E&displaylang=en
Check out documentation first (specially part about not installing this tool
on Exchange if you have it).
I hope this helps,

- Compact >> What to use for developing apps for XDA / MDAI'm rather confused on what developers are able to use for developing
applications running on mobile phones like the XDA or MDA where
Windows Mobile 2003 is the operating system.
Furthermore, what is the exact name of the operating system running on
these types of phones. I see people referring to it simply as "Windows
Mobile 2003" while others refer to it as "Windows Mobile 2003 Phone
Edition", and then I have even seen "Pocket PC 2003 Phone Edition".
Are these all referring to the same thing?
There is currently no documentation on Microsoft's website that
explicitly indicates what development tools are used for this
combination of operating system and type of phone. When I visit
Microsoft's website, they have an SDK for the SmartPhone. But from
reviewing documentation, an XDA or MDA is not considered a SmartPhone.
A SmartPhone has a keypad whereas the XDA and MDA use touch screens.
My logical guess was that this SDK is the development tool to use. But
after downloading and installing the SDK, the documentation states:
"User interaction with Smartphone is through the keypad; there is no
touch screen."
But that is exactly what these phones have. They only have touch
screens. So is that to imply that this is the wrong tool?
Can someone please clarify what tools are used to develop applications
for an XDA or MDA using Visual Studio.NET. I would like to develop
applications using C#.
Thank you for your help,

- Compact >> Improving datagrid...In our last project (first one in .net ce, to be honest), we used datagrid (I assume as pretty much everyone else, being such as basic component). There are a couple of things we did in code, even though it seems impossible they aren't there yet... in any case, I didn't put them inside a derived component because we used vb.net and it isn't possible to write (designer compatible) component with that. Anyway, I have some time in my hands now so I'm going to do it in C#. Before I reinvent the wheel, I want to ask, though.
Our datagrids needed (and we did it with some code):
- To quickly unselect all selected rows (meaning that just doing unselect() in each of them is no good)
- To link one of the columns to a textbox, so if the user types anything in the textbox the row with that text in a given column is selected - suppose we have a grid with a product code and a description, we want users to be able to lookup the product but also type the code directly if they know it.
- When a row is selected, it should be made visible if it's out of the viewable area. What we did, but I can't believe there's a better way, is get to the scroll bars through reflection.
As you can see, they are very basic things, so I'm wondering if someone else has a component that does this already so I save my time.

- Compact >> Word Object ModelHi everyone,
I wonder if there is an Object Model for Word in WM 2005
If not, can one create text files then change the file extension name so the
system will recognize it a Word file?
Thank you,

- SBS >> Hosting facility VLANI am running a server hosting facility and SBS 2003 would=20
be the perfect solution for one of my clients. I plan on=20
placing this Server on a VLAN-desginated switch port. I=20
have another primary domain controller running within the=20
facility. Will the VLAN provide the necessary solution to=20
satisfy the SBS domain requirements? Here is an overview=20
of what SBS needs:
. Only one computer in a domain can be running Windows=20
Server 2003 for Small Business Server.
=20
. Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server must be=20
the root of the Active Directory=AE forest.
=20
. Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server cannot=20
trust any other domains.
=20
. A Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server domain=20
cannot have any child domains.

Thanks in advance for any help!

- SVCS >> Install Problems with Report ServerI want to install Reporting Services to find out about how it works, but I'm
having problems.
I tried to install it on my Windows XP workstation to run with MSDE but got
the message:
"This edition of the Report Server Database is not supported on the edition
of SQL Server 2000 you have chosen. Please choose another SQL Server that
matches the requirements."
I therefore specified the name of one of our test servers running SQL Server
2000 and was able to proceed.
When I got to the screen that specified the "Server Farm" it asked for the
name of an existing install of Reporting Services. Since I don't already
have an existing install I left it empty, but was told I was unable to
proceed with the install unless I enter a value. I therefore named the
server I just was installing to.
When the install finished I got a message saying it wasn't possible to
initialise the report server and this would have to be done manually.
I tried connecting to the ReportServer web site but got the message:
The report server installation is not initialized. Check the documentation
for more information. (rsReportServerNotActivated) Get Online
Help -2147159550
I followed the instructions for manually activating the report server using
the reactivate utiltity, but when I tried to activate the server I got the
message:
"Failure obtaining information from remote WMI provider: Unable to find
Reporting Services WMI namespace on 192.111.1.224. Reporting Services may
not be installed."
How can I get Reporting Services running?

- Crm >> Search engine - quick findI am looking for an explanation on how the quick find is set and if it is
possible to make modifications on the search.
Here is my issue: In contacts entity, when I use the quick find, I can
search for parts of the name. So if I am looking for John Smith, I can
search for "smi" and my contact will show up in the list.
If I do the same in accounts, my accounts do not show. So if John Smith is
in my accounts, in order for him to show, I have to search for "*smi" instead
of "smi"
Why the difference? Can I adjust CRM in order to have the same search
functionality throughout the software?

- Messanger >> Firewall Settings Preventing Me Logging Into WML8Hi, I recently downloaded the latest Windows messenger, but it wonâ??t let me
log in. It takes an age for the two green men to finally come to a conclusion
as to whether to let me in or not, and eventually they say 'You are behind a
firewall preventing you logging into messenger at this time'.
The only firewall i have is Windows Firewall, and I have made an exception
to this, allowing WML8 to access the net.
I can sign into Web Messenger and WML8(on other computers)...any ideas?
