I am trying to debug an application, but have a problem which probably
highlights my total lack of experience.
The application in question starts up another application via CreateProcess
and at that point while running under the debugger I lose my debugging
connection to the original application.
Is it possible to re-connect, and if so how?

I need to check the user activity on the share.
I checked in event viewer the security log.
It has 165.330 entries.Unfortunately from the 165178 entry it is blank.
Is there any backup of it?
In the automatic backup of sbs in the system state there's no copy of the
security.evt.
How can I manage this issue?

- SBS >> Hosting Internet website on SBS2003Help, I know that this can be done and yes I know that it
is not recommended. I need to set up a web site on the
SBS server that will be visible on the internet. Have
ISA 2000 installed. I need a step by step list does
anyone know where to find a to do list. I have tried
with no luck two diffrent approches to this one from a MS
webcast the other from a well known SBS site,both
failed. Does anyone have a complete setup list?

- SBS >> Reinstall Administrative ComponentWhen running the add user wizard i get an error that says that the required
organizational units are missing and to reinstall the administrative
component. I understand the steps of how to reinstall the component.
Will this require a reboot of the system or can the server continue to run?
Does the action of reinstalling this component cause any other changes to
the system?
(sorry very new to this software, and very hesitant to change anything)

- SBS >> Planning sbs upgrade to 2003we have windows 2000 sbs in place. the domain name is
ie "company.local", with exchange fqdn "companay.com",
and netbios name "company". we have client computers
from win98 to winxp. after reading the migration
requirements about different domain or netbios names from
source to destination, how does the netbios name
difference affect my environment? We don't what to
change our naming conventions. We thought we were doing
things as recommended. Now that we are upgrading to the
latest it is required to change the domain or netbios
names. Why should or would we do this. Is there not a
way to migrate our users sid's, mailboxes, company, and
user data files while keeping the security permissions in
tack?

- Messanger >> Can I have Two MS messenger clients on windows 2000?Hello,
I was wondering how I can have MSN Messenger and Windows messenger
running on the same windows 2000 machine. I have a windows XP machine that
it works fine on. But, on Windows 2000 I have MSN 6.0 installed and try to
install a messenger version if won't let me. The reason I want to do this
is because I need windows messenger for internal/work IM's and MSN for non
work related contacts and I do not like the way Messenger 5.0 handles email
when you have it set up for both exchange communications and passport

want to clean out and delete one of the contacts. Both contact records have
had emails associated with them. How do I change one contacts emails to be
linked to the other contact so I can delete the first contact? I can't see
how this can be done without just changing the raw data in the table. Thank

- SVCS >> time out issueI have a query with seven parameters. The report works great as long as I
decrease the size of my dataset by selecting parameters. However, when I
select all on all parameters, the report server times out after 2 minutes.
The error I receive is below. On site settings time out is set to 1800
seconds. I am using IIS 6.0 with the same time out value. The query takes
about 5 minutes to run.
What are your thoughts?

July, and Money does say so, but I only see item to the
24th of June. Money says I have 37 items to review but
only 25 are posted?? What should I do to get the
remaining items to show up on the register.

I new installed sbs 03, now trying to installe remote access, I run the
wizard but it just gives me an error, i do notice that i can seem to change
the server name, it stays, but that is not the server name don't know what,
I don';t see a valid error in the log, or at least one that i
reconize....help

Hi,
Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.
From the description, I understand the issue to be: you get an error when
you configure remote access. If I have misunderstood your concerns, please
do not hesitate to let me know.
As I know, you may need to follow the steps below to configure VPN access
on an SBS environment:
1. Run CEICW, follow the wizard and select Enable firewall and then make
sure Virtual Private Networking (VPN) is selected in the Services
Configuration page. And make sure you have typed the public FQDN of the SBS
server on the Web Server Certificate page.
2. Run Remote Access Wizard in Server Management\Internet and
E-mail\Configure Remote Access, and select VPN access in the Remote Access
Method page. After finishing this wizard, RRAS is configured to allow
inbound VPN access, and it can assign IP addresses to the VPN clients by
using DHCP.
Note: When we run the remote access wizard to set up the VPN service, we
need to input the public IP address or the public FQDN of the SBS server.
We need to make sure that the address can be accessed from the internet.
3. On the VPN client, go to https://publicFQDN/remote, clear I'm using a
public or shared computer, log in and download Connection Manager.
4. Install Connection Manager on the VPN client.
5. Is there a hardware router installed in front of the SBS server? If so,
ensure that the port forwarding for TCP 1723 and GRE port (protocol number
47) are opened. PPTP VPN is negotiating a connection on TCP port 1723 and
send data to and from the PPTP server using the GRE protocol (IP Protocol
47, 0x2F if you are looking in Network Monitor). You should open port 1723
on the router and also make sure IP Protocol 47 is allowed.
Also you may need to check network configuration on SBS and client computer:
On SBS server:
External NIC:
IP: assigned by your ISP or your hardware router
Gateway: your ISP or your Hardware router IP
DNS: SBS INTERNAL NIC IP as the only entry
Internal NIC:
IP: Fixed IP
Gateway: None
DNS: SBS INTERNAL NIC IP as the only entry
In the DNS console (dnsmgmt.msc), right click your ServerName and click
properties. In the Forwarders tab, your ISP DNS server IP should be
inputted there.
On workstation inside your SBS local subnet
IP: Assigned by DHCP on SBS
Gateway: SBS internal NIC IP
DNS: SBS INTERNAL NIC IP as the only entry

- Money >> Yet another transaction that can be entered that cannot be scheduledI have an auto-entered auto-transfer from checking to a brokerage account. I
wanted to see a cash flow scenario where that got skipped this month. I
tried editing the occurrence amount to $0. Money says "Automatic Entry
transactions must have a non-zero amount." So I set it to $0.01. That makes
Money perfectly happy, though in the real world it is no more or less
sensible.
Why? I'd love to think that MS has a rigorous process for software
development wherein this validation is traceable to some documented
requirement. I'd love to know what they thought the requirement was for
this. I can enter $0 transactions in register until my fingers fall off. Why
can't I schedule one?

is there a way to set default language for Report manager?
We are using czech localization from Adastra
(http://www.adastra.cz/default.asp?menu=technology/&page=rp_services_cz.html).
Report manager displays the texts in language based on user preference set in
IE. It works fine but sometimes Report manager "loses" this information and
it is in English then for all users. To restore it back we have to restart
IIS and Report Server (or force czech localization library to reload).

I am trying to get the signal strength for all available access points. I
have been playing with Paul Tobey's RFUtils but I must confess I am not very
strong in this area, so if anyone could point me in the right direction, I
would appreciate it very much.

I am wondering how many user licenses I need. The office has 12 computers,
and 15 individual users that use some of the pc's that are in a common area.
There is only 5 users that are constantly on the network, and the rest of
the users are in and out of the office.
So the total amount of users at any one given time is never more than 10.
So can I just purchase a 10 user edition? What mode should I operate in per
user or device?

I am, like other people here in the newsgroup, having problems with the
webcam feature of MSN Messenger.
The problem I have is the same: I can see myself when I use the tunig tool
but not when using Messenger.
It really annoys me because it is brand new camera (Logitech Quickcam Pro
4000) and when I bought the camera it said, on the package in big letters,
that it is suitable for MSN Messenger. That was the main reason why I bought
it.
So what is wrong? After all, the camera works with Yahoo!Messenger and other
programs...

a hot fix for this problem.
I believe this call is free because this is a bug. Can anyone confirm this?

configure the following:
Have SBS2003 on a broadband connection. One user has his
laptop configured for the network and uses outlook via the
SBS2003 Exchange Server. This user occasionally travels
and needs to access his mailbox on the server via iPass
roaming dial-up connection.
What is the best configuration to have on server side and
client (laptop) side?
Any help or guidance is appreciated.

mail servers? We currently use CRM with tracking and have reports of users
sending email that the recipient claims they never receive.
At this point the claims haven't been verified, we have asked them to report
specific instances so we can investigate. There are several reasons why the
messages could be marked as SPAM besides the GUID, namely content. If the
message is part of a campaign, then obviously the content would play a huge
role in SPAM rule application.
So, my question is, does anyone have concrete info on the GUID triggering
SPAM filter rules? This will help in determining what level of reliance we
will put into the email functionality of CRM.

- SBS >> VPN - connects but have to login on share which doesn't work.Hi ,
When i connect with a xp pro client to the SBS 2003 domain with VPN
connection it works fine the first time. When i shut down my pc and try to
connect shares via vpn i am asked for a username and a password, when i use
the administrator account i don't get access.
When i use another user on my client i can access the shares via vpn, but
when i connect for the second time (after new boot of client) i have
the same problem as above.
Do i have to change some userdata on my client? Is it the firewall within
xp? The ip-ranges are all different, so that's also not the problem.
Please help, i am getting desperate.

2000 terminal server uses the licenses? Currently terminal server will use
the XP Professional as the license, will that change when I make the SBS the
DC?

- SBS >> Internet access from workstationsHi have got 2003 SBS up and running, the only minor problem is that when
anyone accesses an external web page the get the page not found error - then
if they press the refresh button the page loads . I have checked the router
logs and everything seems fine with the ADSL connection has anyone else
sufferred this sort of problem?

- SBS >> Security Level in IE7I installed the windows sb server 2003 and added a domain
all the users start the session inside the domain (using pcs with XP Pro)
but the security level is vary high so theay can´t see almost no pages over
the internet.
and because they'er inside the domain can't change those settings.
i tried to define the security setting in the server but i have no clue
how... :)
can anyone help me?

- Crm >> Considering CRM but don't know anyone who uses it.I have a very small client (actually I have about 10 with the same needs)
running SBS. They have about 5 people who tried BCM and it did every thing
they needed but couldn't sync contact data with OWA or WM5.
They really don't want anything complicated but they would like at their
desk some additional tracking data such as BCM offers but they have to be
able to have the basic info available in standard Exchange 2003 contact
fields available through OWA and to sync with their WM5 units via wireless
activesync.
Will CRM do what I want or should I look at other products.
