SBS >> Monitoring installation fails with MSDE setup error
Hi,
I am trying to reinstall the monitoring component after problems accessing
the database. The setup starts, installs MSDE and then removes it again. All
I get is
MSI (s) (54:A4): Note: 1: 1708
MSI (s) (54:A4): Product: Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine --
Installation operation failed.
I browsed through the log files but could not make out any reason why the
setup fails. How can I troubleshoot this?

I "think" it is probably trying to create a new database, and your old one
still exists. You may have to manually delete, rename, or move the old
database first.

Hi Ted,
I was going though the procedure to delete the old database (deleting the
keys in the registry, deleting the directory under Microsoft SQL server). Am
I missing something out ?
