- SVCS >> Export link on toolbar disabledThe export link on the HTML toolbar continues to be disabled after I select
an export format. This seems to happen everytime a report is launched from
our application - it does this in a new browser window. I don't see this
behavior if I view a report from the report manager (on the same client
machine). I can also reproduce the problem using url access from a fresh
browser.
If I click around enough on the toolbar eventually the link will enable.
I've noticed other posts reporting this kind of problem with no replies.
Does anyone have an idea about how to work around this issue (other than
skipping the toolbar all togther)?
Thanks,
J.

- SBS >> Can't lonon to exchange.Hi
I have just installed a SBS2003 with 10 users, and until now it works just
fine, yesterday we change our IP address and after that - so I think, none of
the clients can logon to the exchange server. Outlook on the clients
machines, just keep popping up with the logon screen, the same happens if we
try to connect to "remote web workplace", it looks like if the different
accounts has been disabled or that the rights has been modified.
I have check the different accounts and everthing seem to be OK.
Any good idea.....
just for the information, I have only installed the service pack 1.
Best regards
Johnny

- Crm >> Front Desk ViewHi guys,
I have customized the phone call activity for use by our frontdesk staff so
they can receive calls, take a minimum of information and pass the call to
the relevant Q once saved. After that they no onger worry about it.
This is exactly what I want but I also want normal users of the system to
see the unmodified phone call entity i.e. the one that is built into MS CRM.
Is it possible to do this somehow by creating a differnt view for front desk
people (maybe I need to put them into a seperate team?) so they only see the
modifed phone call activity screen while others see the standard one?
Cheers,
Mark

- SVCS >> Open exisiting report on remote server from VS2005Hi,
I know this was NOT possible from RS2000, but is it in RS2005? I would like
to create a Visual Studio 2005 project from an existing report on a remote
server. I do not have the original VS project. If I export the RDL from
the remote server and Add Existing Item to the project (using the local RDL
file), it won't publish back to the remote server.
I imagine this situation must come up all the time in team settings where
the original project files aren't shared or the original project files are
lost. Please tell me I am missing something obvious.
Thanks,
Dave

Is there a way to dynamically changing the parameter within the RS?
For eg. I created a parameter x. I placed a table whihc has five groups. I
need to set the value of this parameter x to 1 for the first group , 2 to the
2nd grp .... & 5 to the 5th grp. Is there any method to do this?

- SBS >> Exchange taking lots of RAM issue - InterestingAt your own risk but the article is interesting enough. I know I am not
messing with the settings but might be useful for others....
Rick in the Midwest
How can I change the amount of memory that the Store can use in Microsoft
Exchange 2000 Server and later?
A. The Store is responsible for interfacing with the Exchange database
files. Because these files are disk based, the Exchange server caches as
much information as possible and the Store uses as much of the machine's
memory as possible, up to a default maximum of approximately 858MB of RAM.
The Store releases this memory when other processes need to use it. For
example, on a system with 1GB of RAM, you shouldn't be surprised if the
Store typically uses more than 700MB. Having hundreds of megabytes of free
memory serves no purpose, so the Store simply puts available memory to good
use.
You can change the amount of memory that Exchange uses for its cache by
carrying out the following steps (although you should fully test any such
change because it might affect system performance):
1. Install the Windows 2000 or later support tools from the server OS
installation CD-ROM.
2. Start the ADSI Edit utility, which is one of the support tools--go to
Start, Run, and type
adsiedit.msc
3. From the left-hand pane, expand the root and expand the Configuration
item.
4. Expand Services (each item will be prefixed by CN=), Microsoft Exchange,
the name of your Exchange organization, Administrative Groups, the name of
the administrative group, Servers, the name of the server for which you want
to modify the Store memory information.
5. Select the server. In the right-hand pane, you'll see a list of
components that you can change.
6. Right-click CN=InformationStore, then select Properties from the context
menu.
7. Select the Attribute Editor and ensure that the "Show optional
attributes" option is selected.
8. Double-click "msExchESEParamCacheSizeMax."
9. Although the value appears blank, Exchange sets this value to default to
219726. The value refers to the number of 4KB sections, otherwise known as
pages. The system uses 4KB increments because the Extensible Storage Engine
(ESE) database that Exchange uses stores data in 4KB sections. Enter a new
value equal to the number of 4KB sections required. For example, to limit
the Store to use 50MB of RAM, you'd enter a value of 12500 (you would never
set the value this low on a production server--I'm just using it here as an
example). Because of virtual address space limitations, Microsoft recommends
that you enter a maximum value no larger than 307200, which is approximately
1.2GB of memory. You should typically increase the default value of
219726 only if you have more than 2GB of memory. For maximum efficiency,
ensure that the value you enter is a multiple of 8192 (i.e., 2 pages). Click
OK.
10. Click OK to close the InformationStore Properties dialog box, then close
the ADSI Edit console window.
11. Before the change can take effect, the value for the setting you entered
in Step 9 needs to replicate across the forest. After the change has
replicated, you need to restart the Store on the targeted Exchange server
for the change to take effect.

Newsgroups:uk.misc,uk.politics,uk.media,uk.legal,soc.culture.british
Organization: Toronto Free-Net
Summary:
Keywords:
John Alderson, former Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall, had the
following to say about the expansion of the Security Service's powers, in
a recent magazine article;
"It is fatal to let the secret service into the area of ordinary crime.
MI5 is not under the same restraints as the police. They infiltrate
organisations, people's jobs and lives. They operate almost like a cancer."
"At the moment the acorn of a Stasi [the former East German communists'
secret service] has been planted. It is there for future governments to
build on."
The message is clear. Criminal subversion and criminal harassment by an
unpoliced minority not subject to the law, "infiltration of people's jobs
and lives" is with us today.

- SBS >> Custom performance report from SBSMONITORING databaseHello,
Does anyone know how to create a SQL query that will extract specific
performance data from the SBS 2003 monitoring database (SBSMonitoring.mdf)?
What I'm hoping to do is generate a custom report showing how the processor
and memory resource usage has grown for particular processes (i.e.
store.exe) over a 6 month period. I'm not sure that the database keeps
information going that far back, but its about 350MB so there must be
something in there.
Please let me know if you would like more information,
Much appreciated,

- SVCS >> Pass RS SessionID via URLCan anybody tell me if the following should work:
I am trying to start a report services session by calling the Render
method in code. This works fine - a session ID is generarted in the
SessionHeaderValue. Now, I would like to able to that same session
via URL. Here's the VB code snippit:
-----------------
rs.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials
rs.SessionHeaderValue = sh
result = rs.Render(sender_button.CommandArgument, format, history_id,
_
dev_info, parameter_values, credentials, show_hide_toggle, encoding,
_
mime_type, report_history_parameters, warnings, stream_ids)
Dim temp As String
temp = "http://localhost/ReportServer?%2fDemo+Project%2fMyReport&rs:Command=Render&rs:SessionID="
& rs.SessionHeaderValue.SessionID
Response.Redirect(temp)
-----------------
The redirect works fine, but the Report Server pops up a login screen.
If I have already started the session, and pass the session ID, should
the login still be required?
Any insight on this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Terry

- Messanger >> Jonathan and the groupHi Folks,
Yet another question about audio.
I have no trouble in sending and receiving video in 6.1 but audio is always
a problem.
I run Win98 SE with Nortons Internet Security properly set up (as far as I
can tell).
Whenever I try the audio, it just sits there saying "connecting with
whoever" and then after a while gives up.
It seems incredible to me that the other day, I was in a video conference
with a friend in Canada and at the same time having to use Yahoo messenger
for the audio.
Last night we tried again this time using MSM to launch Netmeeting which
worked perfectly.
I still have trouble with messenger even if I disable or even change my
firewall.
So what's up with messenger, why are so many people having trouble?
Please help,
Dave.

- SBS >> upgrade from SBS 2003 to SBS 2003 R2I have a box that has SBS 2003 and Exchange SP2 running yet I wanted to
upgrade it to the latest R2 release of SBS 2003.
Being that it is already running Exchange SP2 and not WSUS are there any
considerations I need to heed caution to when performing the upgrade?

- Compact >> VGA or not VGAI am using the standard non VGA option in the designer to design my forms
for a WM 5.0 device (using emulators for testing). When I create a label of
height 20 and run it on the non-VGA emulator I get a label displayed of
height 20, exactly as would be expected. When I run the app on a VGA
emulator the label gets resized to 40, this is also good news as far as I am
concerned.
Here is the problem, if I create the label at runtime with a height of 20
and run it on the VGA device, it actually displays as 20, which is of no use
as the text in the label gets truncated. My question is, how is the label
created in the designer getting resized automatically and how can I do the
same thing with the labels I create.
(I realise here I can check the screen size and size the label accordingly,
but as this is not what is happening with the designer created label, so
what code for the designer label causes this?)

- Money >> M04 user looses auto update, prompted to upgrade to M07.Well it happened. They stopped updating our quotes and transactions
automatically as of 11/18/06, noting the number of excess days (over 100)
since our 3-years of auto updating expired. I was curious to find out if
(1) we could continue to manually update securities prices--YES. And (2) if
we would be able to manually download statements and/or transactions from
institutions providing that function--YES. So we are still in business, if
not as conveniently. When we run Money Updates, it seems to indicate that
Money proper's updating function is still doing something (at least changing
the date of last update). Have no idea if any future tax setting changes
will come through or if we will have to do that manually. For now, we are
sticking with M04. Still monitoring Dick's site and users' comments here.
Hope M08 is compelling. I suppose that if a near free copy of M07 Deluxe is
offered this winter at one of the typical vendors, Circuit City, Best Buy,
etc., I may try running it on a dual basis, but Nuking the Bills, etc. seems
a bit daunting.

Should we be telling trend to exclude the mdbdata folder?

- SVCS >> problem with Selection criteriaUsing SS2000 SP4, RS2000, VS2003
I'm trying to put the start date and end date in the report header. I have a
report title in the header now and it prints ok. As soon as I add a text box
and the parameter for the start date, nothing in the report header prints but
the body of the report prints. This is what is in the header
"=FORMAT(Parameters!StartDate.Value, "MMMM d, yyyy")". I also have some
parameters in the report footer and they aren't printing either. I copied
them from another report.
Thanks,

- SBS >> server in useHi,
Has anyone found a way or a 3rd party package to figure out who is on a

remotely accessing a workstation?
I can do the shares and sessions bit - but its really not very informative

I have also tried whoson software - but it gives web access by IP and is
also not highly targetted.
I want to know if it is safe to reboot a server or workstation .
Anyone found a really useful tool or method??

I am trying to configure my IP in order that I can view the CompanyWeb on
Small Business Server 2003 - if I set everything to automatic it will let me
view the page with no problems at all. It is when I come to set it as a
static IP that it falls down, I am trying to use the following settings:-
IP Address 192.168.0.104
Subnet Mask: 255.255.225.0
Gateway 192.168.0.5 (BT Broadband Router)
Preferred DNS: 192.168.0.1 (SBS IP Address)
When in DOS Window and you release and then renew the IPConfig the default
gateway says 192.168.0.4 (Wireless Router for LAN).
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SOVE THIS PUZZLE??

- Crm >> Accounts & Contacts Company Name CRM & GPOur company is in the process of implementing a crm3 to great plains 9.
We were told that we need to convert Leads to Accounts & Contacts for the
way Great Plains & Crm Integrates using the Scribe solution we purchased.
The problem is that when we have multiple accounts with the same company
name that they do not import correctly. These ARE NOT the same company even
though they have the same company name. We are trying to figure out how this
will work in CRM and Great Plains.
For example we could have RE/MAX Northwest in Chicago area and a RE/MAX
Northwest in Texas that are not related except that they are both affiiated
with RE/MAX. Since real estate names are very similar we do not want to be
grouping company names together. We consider our sales process to be
Business to Individual, not Business to Company.
I originally thought we should just convert Leads to Contacts (and not
accounts), but was told that this is not the structure for the integration to
Great Plains and extensive modifications would be needed (as there are
default mapping templates).
I am looking for ideas.

- SBS >> Performance Issues: Network Load Balancing? It looks like my sbs2003 std, w/exchange and sharepoint, is up and running,
resolved most issues including the time service, thanks mainly to this
discussion group.
Exchange clients are still very slow or non-responsive. Most other services
perform well, like Sharepoint Intranet and internet access.
Some users are using the Intranet/companyweb to access their email, which is
very fast, but that is not my preference. I would prefer them to use Outlook
caching so that I can re-create individual PST files if I had to for any
reason.
sbs 2003 installed a 'Network Load Balancing' Service under network adapter

- SBS >> Port Forwarding in Windows SBSHi,
I have a SBS set up behind a Broadband Router. The firewall is disabled in
the Broadband router.
I have a client (192.168.0.22) which runs CCTV software. from Port 81.
I can access the webcam CCTV software form inside my network by simply typing
in 192.168.0.22:81
However, I seem unable to forward the correct ports to access the software
from outside my network. I have tried forwardding the 2 ports I need (81 and
4551) to the local ip address 192.168.0.22 but am still unable to acccess
from outside my network.
If I type in my Static ip address https://217.39.21.53:81 Windows SBS simply
will not forward to the correct client computer.
Any help would be really appreciated. I know that I can log on using VPN from
my laptop and access the info. However, I would really like to be able to log
on from any computer using IE by simply typing in the IP address.
Cheers,
James
