SBS >> Reinstall SBS 2003
I have a situation where I need to reload SBS 2003 due to the badly
configured hardware setup on the server. Thus I need to completely wipe,
reconfigure drives, and reload. My thought process on doing this while
retaining the current Domain and Exchange Org is to treat this as if it was
a disaster recovery situation. I would perform the following:
1. Backup, Backup, Backup (You get the picture)
2. Shutdown server, reconfigure drives, create hardware RAID (does not exist
now)
3. Install SBS 2003 normally
4. Perform an AD restore
5. Perform an Exchange recovery install (setup.exe /DisasterRecovery)
6. Restore Files/Folders and other misc apps
Will this process work for SBS 2003. Am I missing anything here? Any help
would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks much!!!!
Todd

SBS >> Reinstall SBS 2003
I think you'd cut the time in half, at least, by using some form of imaging
software.
Ghost, Acronis, V2I...

SBS >> Reinstall SBS 2003
I think the problem with using imaging software will be that the newly
reconfigured server will not have the same logical drive letter assignments.
For example the image will be looking for a logical F drive that does not
exist in the newly reconfigured server. That is my assumption. Can Ghost
indeed handle this?
Thanks much!!
