- SBS >> Reinstall SBSI have so many problems with my SBS 2003 install that I'm beginning to
think a complete reinstall is in order.
The things I don't want to lose are Active Directory (especially
security tokens), Mailboxes, Information Store, Public Store and of
course application registration and data.
I would prefer to lose everything else and start from scratch. This
installation is only a couple weeks old.

- Crm >> Front Page error messageI had to reinstall my FP software today because of some
missing component in my original FP on the computer. I now
constantly get an error message that there is a FP error

version. What is DIBENG.DLL and can I do anything to
correct the problem? Should I reinstall the original

in the midst of a job and need the software to be fully
functional. Thanks.

Workflows are no appearing in the workflow monitor or being executed via the
workflow service. Our workflows were working fine and then stopped working
and any new workflow created is not being executied or displayed in the
workflow monitor. We have gone so far as to delete all workflows and create
one simple opportunity workflow that checks one field value on create and
sets another. The workflow can be activated and updated via thwe workflow
manager, but does not appear in the monitor and does not execute. The service
is running and the workflow can be manually applied to an apportunity.
The service is running, but the following message is displayed in the event
viewer when the service is re-started.
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( MSCRMWorkflowService ) cannot

adjustment as I am not really putting money into it so that it will balance
as of year end.

- Crm >> CRM 3.0 Pro vs SBS PricingWhat is up with the pricing disparity between Pro and SBS versions? ARe
there any other partners out there struggling with this?
We're in a smaller market, with mainly SMB prospects. We've lost more sales
because of the pricing disparity between these two versions than I can shake
a stick at.
MS has the two products priced about $1000 apart, with absolutely no
functional difference aside from the fact that one version supports up to 75
users, and one supports >75 users.
The problem is that there are a LOT of SMB accounts that don't necessarily
run SBS. So they get very interested in CRM 3.0 until we tell them the
price. They consistently tell us it's too expensive. And God forbid if they
ask for the SBS version pricing. When we tell them and they realize that
it's $1000 less per node, they ask why and MS hasn't given us any good
answer, so we have to tell them that we just don't know why.
We've been told that it's an issue that MS is aware of and that it's
happening elsewhere, but I don't see MS addressing it, so I thought I'd ask -
is anyone else losing deals because of this?
Are our customers all just insanely cheap or are other partners experiencing
this? MS says they think the price is fair (of course), but no matter what
MS and we say about the value and great functionality, customers are still
shopping CRM against Act, Goldmine, SalesForce, etc and complaining. And
there is no way to explain away the SBS/Pro pricing chasm. MS could of
course just raise the pricing on the SBS version to equalize the two, but
then the few opps that we do have would be lost so I don't think that'd be
wise.
I also don't think this Live version is the answer. Who in the world wants
a hosted solution for MS CRM? Slow web apps (vs. 32/64-bit) are bad enough,
but hosted? Yuck! One of the biggest benefits of this product vs.
Salesforce.com is that I don't have to worry about the latency issues of
having to push the data over my WAN connection. Not to mention security,
availability, etc.
And what in the world is MS thinking they're doing if they want their
partners to support them? We make our living on service - not selling
products. Selling a hosted solution leaves nothing for the partner, aside
from a few scraps of margin on selling their service. Even if it was a good
solution architecturally (I don't think it is), why would we want to
recommend this?
Am I alone here in my thoughts?

- Messanger >> Can't believe you won't tell me "What's New" Anymore!Ok, so Messenger wants to update. I just happen to care why. It tells me "A
newer version of MSN Messenger is available, would you like to update?" Then
it offers a button called "What's New?"
Clicking the "What's New" button used to take me to a technical page a la
Windows Update (Security patches, little smileys, new features, everything).
Now it just shows me this marketing garbage with no specifics about what
changes you are making to the software. I'm not comfortable with this new
limited disclosure, and will consider this the "last straw" with messenger
and my hotmail account as well.

We purchased a HP Prolliant ML100 server for a client of mine who have
5 computers and 15 users. I have already registered / licenced the

The question i have is how do i know weather these registered 5-CAL's

them as to what they were. I am currently getting nearing max
licencing errors becasue i have 15 registered users and a server

Russ,
I have port 444 open and have changed the link to the "My Company's Internal
Web Site" on the SBS Welcome page to use the format
https://<FQDN_of_SBS_server>:444.
My remote users are still unable to access/download the executable (.exe)
file. Furthermore, web page images, that I stored within my Sharepoint site
lists, are not being displayed.
Your help to resolve these two problems would be greatly appreciated.

You haven't said so so please confirm that right-click on the file name and
'Save Target As' also isn't working not just the simple double-clicking on
the file name.
Please also stick to just one question per thread (even if provoked !)

servers shared folder contents to a workstation. I then added the
workstation to my new SBS2003 network and I am currently trying to copy the
files from the workstation to a new shared folder on the SBS2003 server. I
mapped the new shared folder as drive S: on my workstations just like we
used to have them when they were connected to the old server.
I have two problems: When I try and copy the contents from the folder on
the workstation to the shared folder on the new server it stops part way and
says the disk is full. The drive appears to be 4GB and full when I view it
with my computer on the workstation. The drive has plenty of room but it's
as if the folder size has a limit? It ust be the way it was created and or
shares & permissions. Basically I need my users to be able to copy stuff to
this folder without any limitations. They should be able to treat it like a
hard drive on thier computer. The second problem is that an ms access
database that was copied to the new server's shared folder won't allow
multiple users to open it now. This is a key application that we all use at
the same time throughout the day. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

Note: This information is intended for a network administrator. If you are

The domain name ppt might be a NetBIOS domain name. If this is the case,
verify that the domain name is properly registered with WINS.
If you are certain that the name is not a NetBIOS domain name, then the
following information can help you troubleshoot your DNS configuration.
DNS was successfully queried for the service location (SRV) resource record
used to locate a domain controller for domain ppt:
The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.ppt
The following domain controllers were identified by the query:

Common causes of this error include:
- Host (A) records that map the name of the domain controller to its IP
addresses are missing or contain incorrect addresses.
- Domain controllers registered in DNS are not connected to the network or
are not running.

I do not know what it is or anything. Tried to redo DNS and Build a new

- Money >> MSN Bill Pay will not install on existing Money acccountSo I had to change my passport that I use for Money and
Billpay. Therefore I had to "stop using bill pay" and set
it back up using the new passport.
I have an existing "Bank Account" set up in money which I
manually update by going to the banks website and
downloading recent transactions. In Money, this bank
account is called "Bank of America Checking". When I set
up Bill pay online and set up my payment account and name
it the same "Bank of America Checking", after I update it
simply makes a new account in Money called "Bank of America
Checking-#1".
It doesn't use my existing account with all my transactions
in it. No problem right? Just hit merge. Well Merge
accounts does not allow me to merge any of the bank
accounts for some reason, only credit cards accounts.
What gives? I'm tearing my hair out trying to set Bill pay
up using my existing account in Money and it simply won't
do it. It only makes new accounts.
why is there not some way in Money itself of specifying
which accounts you want to use with Bill pay? Why can you
only do this online which doesn't work?

- SBS >> Weird PPTP problemHello,
I've got a weird PPTP problem and have not found a solution in any
newsgroup yet.
Normally the VPN connection works fine (which is a client VPN
connection to our SBS server).
I also can VPN connect a computer from our local lan towards a
external server.
Now, when I connect our local lan computer to an external server
(VPN), and I want to connect another external client towards our
server, this connection fails with error 721.
Tracing the connection reveals that the PPTP connection is accepted,
but that's it. No username/password verification is possible, no
connection to the network can be made.
In addition (might be important), our local lan has 2 network
addresses, 192.168.1.x and 192.168.3.x
A second NIC is connected to our SpeedTouch DSL modem (with ip
10.0.0.x).
How can I debug and solve this problem, it is beginning to be a good
hadache.
Thanks in advance for any reply.

playing around with Reporting Svcs for a few days.
I have a report that's rendered from a stored procedure (no prob there
- works quite nicely). One of the grouping variables, Type, has values
such as "SS_F", "SS_P" and the like.
Naturally what I'd like to do is assign meaningful labels to these
values. Since there are only a few of them and they're static for the
report - that is, the same 4 values (well, up to 4 .. perhaps only 2 or
3 in any given run) would be returned on any run of the stored proc.
Where do I do that?? Or do I need to make the assignments in code? If
so, how do I get there? And before suggesting that I do them in the
sp, I can't - it's not mine to touch :)
Thanks so much for any help!
