- SVCS >> RS Server ArchitectureI am working on a POC (proof of concept) for reporting services.
My question is can RS be depoyed using the following architecture.
Web Server.
App Server.
DB Server.
The web server can only see the app server, and the app server can see both
the web and db server. Would like the actual report generation to be
performed on the app server.
Can RS be depoyed in this manner?

- SBS >> Laptop VPN to SBS Prem connection problemI have a laptop with XP Pro SP2 that connects to the office SBS Premium
server via wireless due to the office location.
The laptop uses connects to a Linksys wireless router (WRV54G) and then
uses VPN to connect to the server. The connection work fine and the ISA
client connect. I can surf the internet and get my email from Outlook (not
useing HTTP for email) no problem.
The problem is that is takes a long time for the laptop to "connect" to the
domain. What I mean is that if I try to browse the network shares I can see
the folders but none of the files. I can't synchronize because it says that
I'm still off-line/disconnected. Sometimes it takes 10+ minutes before I'm
presented with the message that I'm now connected to the network and can
connect.
Any ideas as to why this is taking so long to actually realize that I am
connected to the domain?

- SBS >> Shared Fax on W2003 Server & OL2003If, from a W2003 member Server in an SBS2003 Domain, I try to send a Fax
using the "Send To Mail Recipient(As Attachment)" option from word 2000, and
address it using a Business Fax from one of my OL2003 contacts, that is being
powered by Exchange 2003 SBS, I get an Undeliverable Message form the Mail
Administrator as per below:-
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject: Document1
Sent: 12/10/2004 18:13
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
Abc (Business Fax) on 12/10/2004 18:13
The message could not be delivered because the recipient's
destination email system is unknown or invalid. Please check the address and
try again, or contact your system administrator to verify connectivity to the
email system of the recipient.
If I just use the Send To Mail recipient option or indeed select the Shared
Fax as a printer, all is well.
Anyone ???

Are there any known issues with uninstalling PPS breaking connections to
Reporting Services? What is the integration between these two pieces?
I can not connect to RS (there is no web.config in "D:\Program
Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.4\Reporting Services\ReportServer\"
anymore).

- Money >> Using the "Enter" keyI've been using Money since...well forever, and do just basic tasks.
However, I just bought a new PC w/Money 2005 OEM installed. The one, and
most annoying, quirk for me is that in all previous versions you had the
option to use the "enter" key to move between fields in the transaction form.
Does anyone know if this has been disabled in 2005? Is there a way to get
this function back?

I've installed W2k3SBS for a month on a single PC connect to a DSL router
setup. Lately, it shut down unexpectedly due to this

incomplete setup. Tried the Continue Setup Icon on desktop, but has this
message "Unable to access Active Directory". Why?
I tried to go into Manage Your Server and Configure Your Server and found
them both missing. Why? How can I re-install them?

- SVCS >> Unloading custom assembly from VS - how toAfter viewing a report using the preview tab any custom assemblies become
loaded in the Visual Studio instance. I can close the project and the
custom assembly remains loaded, only after shutting down the VS instance
does the assembly become unloaded. I have some post build code to copy the
compiled assembly, but this fails because the instance is already loaded. I
split the Custom Assembly into another solution rather than parking it in
the same solution with the reports. Anyone find a way to unload dll's from
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies?
Here's the command line that is giving me grief:

We get this error once or twice a day on email. Our

- Messanger >> Messanger 7.0?Where can I download this version? My hard drive crashed and after
reinstalling everything I had to download 7.5. As many other posts here
indicate, it is crap. I can't connect most times. It is completely random
when it does connect without me changing a thing. I am using it at work and
had no problems with 7.0 on the work network. The troubleshooter shows me
connected to .NET but messanger gives me the 80048820 error. When searching
for this, it says my time zone is incrorrect? How the hell can the time zone
setting cause this problem?

Hi There
At firsts I tried developping some test applications with the current
Beta. Therefore I installed AS 4 for remote debugging.
Now i got VS.NET 2003 I installed it , meanwhile everything works fine
excepet the remote debugging.
VS succeeds in transfering the data to the PPC but isn't able to start
and debug the application.
Isn't VS.Net compatible to ActiveSync 4 ? Or where could the problem be
situated?

As the question states.
We may be adding another Windows 2003 Server and a person of some
influence likes the Remote Web Workspace feature.
Does it make sense, good or bad, to fold an SBS box into our network? Is
this very common practice, if at all?
What pitfalls and pratfalls do we face?

- SBS >> Error while installing server toolsHi,
I'm installing a SBS2003. In the end, after installing the server tools, it
shows two errors.
Server config:
Generating user groups caused errors. I followe dthe suggestion, went to the
AD manually and all worked fine.
Server tools:
While copying data an error accourred. Looking at the log I find Errors
1302, 1609, 1708 and 1709. It says: Remote Portal installation failed. This
also generated an event 11609, source MSI installer, which I'll include here,
at the least the English part:
Product: Windows Small Business Server-Remoteportal -- Error 1609. An error
occurred while applying security settings. Domain Power Users is not a valid
user or group. This could be a problem with the package, or a problem
connecting to a domain controller on the network. Check your network
connection and click Retry, or Cancel to end the install. Unable to locate
the user's SID, system error 1332; (NULL); (NULL); (NULL).

Now, I'm not a power user, I'm the domain admin, so Ii don't understand the
issue. I've tried it 3 times, no joy. When I take out the server tools from
the installation, the server config (AD) error goes away, too.
I don't care about remote portal, but I miss the server management console.
Any ideas as to how I can fix this error will be appreciated!!!

context. Right now my OWA client will only access the GAL and my personal

- SBS >> Internet Connection Wizard won't complete exchange server configYou guys have all finally convinced me that I should leverage the built in
exchange server for my email for my small consulting business.
I ran the icw to setup the email server, and it gets through all of the
steps EXCEPT for configuring exchange. Any ideas of where to go to look as
to the reason? A log file I don't know about?

- SBS >> upgrading 2000/exchange 5.5 to sbs 2003what a nightmare. can this be done? I cannot get the migration tool to
work, probably due to sbs lack of trust support.
The exchange 5.5 WAS nt 4. I upgraded that to 2000 /ad. Then I added the
sbs box. The users made it fine. All types of problems with this, but I
can access domain resources both ways.
I tried admt too. It won't work, because the domain names are the same.
Any ideas are welcome.
If its a known fact that you cannot upgrade this way (not able to determine
that from the MS website) Then what options do I have? Can I nuke the sbs
box and rebuild it as a 2003 box? I have another 2003 server (not a dc) I
could promote that and possibly migrate the exchange box (using ex2003). (I
will want to get the exchange off this machine eventually)

I have searched through the inetpub\remote area and cant make sense of it
all. I imagine that it is all ASP.NET dynamic text and it may be coming from

country and the headquarters to view accounts in all countries? (for e.g.
users in Canada only sees account based in Canada and users in Africa only
sees accounts based in Africa but U.S., the headquarters are able to view
all accounts)
