- SBS >> Logging on problemsWe are running SBS2003 and since the weekend, when we had to shut it down due
to an upcomming power outage, it now takes over an hour to log into the
server. It just stays at the "applying computer settings" stage.
Once we do get on, we cannot get to the internet from the server
(Workstation users have no problems with this), we cannot get to the network
card properties and the internet conection options.
Has anybody come across this or have any idea what is going wrong?

- SBS >> ISA 2004 Cache Problem?Noticed a few weeks ago a few of our SBS 2003 Premium servers networks that
the clients that have there home page set to msn.com would get the same
day/page even when refreshed over and over, this would go on for a few days
then it would be ok with a new day/page for day again. It was flawless until
a few weeks or so ago. Anyone notice this anomaly Where should I begin to
look in ISA 2004. Caching is on and all is at the defaults.

I found this KB#/listing on this site:

Now for some reason I feel that it just doesn't even exist on my server

I open ISS6 and I attempt to browse Public under Default Web Site it says:
HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found. So I thought to myself that
this might be related so I checked out the virtual path of it and it is:

a search for the folder and I didn't find anything. I also have this same
problem when I attempt to browse Exadmin. Any ideas ?

the right direction. I have an SBS 2003 Prem installation running E2k3. I
am also using a Windows Mobile 6.0 device (Motorola Q using Verizon service).
I have configured the SBS and the device so it is syncing wireless no
problem, but.... there is a configuration change I am not sure I can do.
Basically in my Q device I get a notification when a new arrives in the
Inbox, but I have also set up server side rules for this mailbox to move
incoming messages to certain other folders when the arrive. This works great
in my Outlook client on my computer and I can sync the folders, but.... I
only get notifications on incoming to the Inbox which doesn't help me much if
there is mail in another folder. I physically have to go to that folder to
see if there is mail.
Is there anything I can do here or are there workarounds people are using?
Is this something that can be affected on the SBS side with Windows Mobile?
Thanks!

- SBS >> AOL on ISA serverHi
Does anyone know how to get AOL 9 to run on an XP WS on
SBS Premium with ISA? I have never used AOL (compuserve in
the old DOS days) and call their help number when my
customers do need support. It was almost funny today
talking to them about what ports to open on ISA! :-(
I found KB 297479 on making 6.0 work and setup the Manual
Proxy and setup a Packet filter for their port but I still
can't get connected. I showed her how to get her AOL from
aol.com but she said it doesn't look the same and it
doesn't have all the features (which about made me sick)
but she is paying me and I would like to get this to
connect.
Thanks for any help.

Both computers are running SQL Server 2005 with SP1 installed.

Both methods give us exactly the same error...
The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not

Why are we getting this error?

Hi Marina,
Yes I checked the readme file on the CD and it tells me that for more
information about the command line syntax to specify a product key see the
updated version of this document at Microsoft Web site LinkId=45058 but this
link has the same information than the one on CD and nothing about the
command line syntax
Do you know how to report this problem to Microsoft or where can I get this
info?
Thank you very much.

Hi Susan,
Thanks for your help but I just wanted to know if somebody knows the syntax
of the command or how to report to Microsoft that the information on the
LinkID=45058 is wrong. I have my ISA server 2000 working and I don't feel
that I have to pay $245 just for the syntax of one command that should be
posted on the documentation of the product. I guess I will wait.
Thank you very much,

network access problems :
- anybody can access server resources and stations that are win2k or
win2kpro
- there are win98 stations that cannot be accessed until the respective
station is restarted ( and after restart the wonder doesn't last longer than
half an hour ).
What do I mean by "cannot be accessed" is that when you dclick a computer a
windows pops out and and asks for an username and a password ( that is if
you are connecting from a win2k or a winxp - "Incorrect pass or unknown
username for \\nameofthestation", Connect as:...; Password: ... - and of
course that no username and password works ).
If you are connecting from a win98 machine the message is " You must supply
a password to make this connection. Resource \\nameofthestation\IPC$ ;
Password... - and of course that no password is good.
It's like you are not connected to the domain, but than again from the
station that you couldn't connect to, you can connect to all the NT based
machine and to some win98 computers.
- network is about 40 computers
- 50 installed licenses per device ( but Licensing tells that the maximum
usage is 17 )
- in event viewer there are no critical or warning messages, and in the
security log there are 538,540 and 576 all success audit type.
- there is a win2ksrv ADC, which has no errors too
If anybody has a clue where should I start looking it would be a much needed
help.
Thank you

- SVCS >> formula's in Report serivcesI am currently migrating all our Crystal reports over to Reporting Services and I am having a few issues that I am hoping someone else has already had. In Crystal you can set up formulaâ??s and trigger them during the report, theses formulaâ??s are triggered in the order of the report being printed, so if you wanted to keep a running total you could clear it in the Group header, total it in the details and print it in the Group footer. I have tried this in reporting services but donâ??t seem to have got it right.
In my report I have a lot of EANâ?? codes.
EAN has a Qty
Each EAN may be in many Locations.
Each Location has a Location type
Only one location for Each EAN will be of type PICK.
I wanted to sum the qty so I grouped on SKU. In the group header I trigger the code.ClearLocation
In the Details I trigger the code code.SetLocation
In the group footer I trigger the code.ShowLocation
This should show the Pick location in the group footer but it doesnâ??t. Does this work in reporting services?
Custom Code :
Dim LocationLOC AS String
function ClearLocation() AS String
LocationLOC = ""
ClearLocation = LocationLOC
End Function
function SetLocation(ByVal LocationType As String, ByVal LOC As String) AS String
If LocationType = "PICK" then
LocationLOC = LOC
End if
SetLocation = LocationLOC
End Function
function ShowLocation() AS String
ShowLocation= LocationLOC

- Compact >> Splashscreen problem (partly...)This is quite a strange one...
My device is WM6 and I am developing on CF 1. I have written a splashscreen
on a new form and call it from form1 like so...
public Form1()
{
this.MinimizeBox = false;
splash form = new splash();
form.ShowDialog();
InitializeComponent();
}
This sort of works perfect for me on my device (though I actually do get a
gap between the splash screen and the program where I can see what was on
screen before, though I am not too concerned).
I have deployed the app to a WM5 device. I run the app and my splashscreen
appears, disappears (as it should) but then the app just doesn't appear,
however, if I click the icon again, the app actually starts without the
splash screen, which suggests that the app is actually running from first
click, just not visible.
Any ideas?
My splashscreen form code is...
public splash()
{
this.FormBorderStyle = FormBorderStyle.None;
this.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized;
this.BackColor = Color.White;
Timer timer = new Timer();
timer.Interval = 4000;
timer.Tick += new EventHandler(timer_Tick);
timer.Enabled = true;
InitializeComponent();
}
void timer_Tick(object o, EventArgs e)
{
this.Close();
}
(There was a this.TopMost = true; but that failed to compile for some
reason.)
