- SBS >> Logon Script for VPNI am setting up SBS2003 and have hit a stumbling block for our remote users.
We have two guys who will be remote all the time. I have set up the VPN
connection and am able to get back and forth to the system. But it isn't
automatic - I would like to see the VPN enabled and the logon done to the
system. The way it is configured now, they log on to the computer, then log
onto the VPN, then repair the off-line file box.
I would like to see it that when the computer starts up, the VPN connection
is enabled then when they log-on, the connection is automatic and completed.
I would also like to see the unit logoff automatically a some later time, so
their files will sync to the server.
I am new to all this, could someone point me towards information on this

- SBS >> RWW & VBScript error when connect. to desktopsHello all,
I have a fresh install of SBS 2003 Standard Edition with a single Nic. When
one tries to connect to local desktops from the RWW from over the Internet,
you get the error:
VBScript: Remote Desktop Disconnected
The client could not connect to the remote computer. Remote connections
might not be enabled or the computer might be too busy to accept new
connections. It is also possible that network problems are preventing your
connection. Please try connecting again later. If the problem continues to
occur, contact your administrator.
From the LAN, you can type in https://192.168.16.2/remote, access the RWW,
and connect to all desktops on the LAN from any other desktop by using the
"connect to client desktops" option in the RWW.
We have a DLink DFL200 NetDefend firewall that is the default gateway for
the LAN. Ports 3389, 4125, 443, and 444 are all open and pointed to the
local IP address of the server. I can RDP directly to the server without
going through RWW. Since the RWW's "connect to client desktops" works from
the LAN and not from the WAN, I know it has something to do with this
firewall, but I'm not sure what else to check.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Here is another query from me. We have more than one grouping to be

REGION NAME: ABC
CategoryName APR 2004 MAR 2004

Cat1 123 123
Cat2 123 123
Cat3 123 123
Using a matrix, we were able to group by category name, but were unable
to group by region. Hence we tried using a table and embedded the
matrix inside the same. It seems to work, but is there a better option

- SVCS >> Reporting Service Installation ProblemHi All,
I am working with reporting services from some time now and now my client
has upgraded from SQL server 2000 to SQL Server 2005.
Problem
I have set up a website which uses reporting services and the the reports
dynamicaly drill down to other reports. I am using the URL to render the
reports in a frame. i am creating the link in the parent page(which is render
on my webserver) using javascript for the drilldown reports, meaning , in the
report link on the report i am just passing the parameters and actually
creating a URL for the new report in the parent page using javascript.
when reporting service and the asp.net application are on the same machine
the links work perfectly alright and i am able to drill down to other reports
and so on.
but when i separated the reporting service to the database server and
asp.net application on the web server i am having problems. as cross frame
communication is not allowed for security reason.(You can suggest any better
way to Handel this issue, i dont want to create a separate Domain for the
reporting service) so i installed just the reporting service on the web
server and when i am trying to configure it to connect to the database server
i am getting following errors.
"A connection could not be established with the information provided. Hit OK
to chnage your connection settings. Invalid Object Name sysdatabases"
I have already change my database setting to connect using TCP/IP and Named
pipes and i am trying to connect using Windows Integrated Security.
Thanks for you patient to read through the problem.

- SBS >> Exchange ActiveSync errorHello All,
Ever since one of my employees got a new Moto Q I have been
receiving the following error messages in my application event logs.
They come two at a time at random times and I get about 80 a day all
fro the same phone.
Event ID 3005 Source: Server ActiveSync
Unexcpected Exchange Mailbox Server Error: Server: [SBS.domain.local]
User:[user@mycompany.com] HTTP status code:[400]. Verify that the
Exchange mailbox Server is functioning properly.
The catch is that the employee has no errors on the phone and it is
syncing up correctly. I have read a number of forums and posts about
similiar errors but I can find none that addresses a situation where
the phone is working properly. This is the only employee that is having
an issue. All other PDAs are having no issues. The Q uses Windows
Mobile 5 and I have a fully updated SBS server with mobile access
enabled and direct push enabled as well. Any help would be appreciated.

Messanger >> Messenger 7.5 vs Messenger 8.1
My situation is the same as BPoggi in a post dated 2/26. Being told by Bill
Sanderson and also reading from posts over in the Defender forum i was told
that the latest version of MSN Messenger 7.5 is Windows live Messenger 8.1.
After upgrading to 8.1 from 7.5 i too have both versions on my desktop and
also in ADD/REMOVE and my question is why wasn't 7.5 removed and can it be?
Also another problem i'm having is when i open Windows live Messenger to
check to see if i received any emails i would then open MSN Today and check
them there. When MSN Today is opened i receive a message there was an error
during sign-in (no error #) and can't access my inbox from there. And now i
can't access my Hotmail from my MSN Homepage or MSN Today
Jonathan Kay, can 7.5 be removed without harming 8.1? and i would love my
msn today to work again. Thank you Ron H.

Messanger >> Messenger 7.5 vs Messenger 8.1
Greetings Ron,
Assuming you're referring to the exact same problem, MSN Messenger 7.5 is not there -- it's
just listed in Add or Remove Programs. This can be safely ignored as it's just an entry in
the registry.
Can you get to Hotmail from http://www.hotmail.com ?

(Windows XP, SP2) and when we try to deploy the reports we get the message:
"A connection could not be made with report server at
http://localhost/ReportServer"
Everything is running (green checks) in the Reporting Services configuration
manager. We get the error, "Page not found." when we just try to open
http://<machinename>/Reports or http://localhost/Reports. I see the virtual
directories in IIS, all services seem to be running correctly.
Please help! I have installed reporting services about 10 times and have
not run into this problem before. The only issue that we had initially was
that the IIS default web site would not run because there was a conflict on
TCP Port 80, so I switched that TCP Port to port 81 -- this shouldn't be a
problem should it.
Thank you,

- Compact >> Compact Framework 2.0 and Windows CE 4.2HI all,
My background is that we have CE 4.2 devices deployed in the field. We
are adding new software and I would like to write a CF 2.0 app that
uses C# and pinvoke. I got this to work by writing the C++ and C# apps
in MSVC 2005, targetting the correct processor and then deploying by
hand. The problem is that I can't debug it from MSVC 2005.
Our devices are already deployed, so there is no chance of getting new
ones with a more modern os. I could always revert to using MSVC 2003
and embedded tools 4.0, but it would be _very nice_ to get MSVC 2005 to
work so I can use CF 2.0 and debug.
I am looking for some clarification on this topic. From searching
online I have determined that:
1. MSVC 2005 does not support Windows CE 4.2 devices. You cannot
deploy or debug.
2. Compact Framework 2.0 _is supported on CE 4.2_. I downloaded the
cab file and wrote a sample app, and it seems to work well.
3. Only MSVC 2005 supports CF 2.0 debugging.
Anyone please correct me if any of the above points are incorrect...
thanks in advance.
Regarding CF 2.0 support, as a developer I see a big disconnect here:
You can run a CF 2.0 app on a CE 4.2 device, but you cannot debug and
deploy it from MSVC 2005. Is there any good reason why this
functionality did not make it into MSVC 2005? If Microsoft doesn't
support development of CF 2.0 apps for Windows CE 4.2, then why did
they release CF 2.0 for CE 4.2? I am confused. Are there plans to add
this support to MSVC 2005?
it would be nice to get an official answer to this question. If anyone
else out there knows how I can debug using MSVC 2005, I would greatly
appreciate the help. I was actually able to get MSVC 2005 to start
deployment by telling it the device is a pocket pc 2003 device (but it
is actually 2002). However, the cab files it deploys specify CE 5.0 as
the min version. I am currently trying to modify these cab files by
hand, install them and initiate a remote debugging session. This is
painful though and I am hoping someone out there can advise a better
solution. My last resort is to go back to MSVC 2003 and CF 1.0 if I
can't make headway here.
Thanks,
Rich
