- SBS >> Licensing--residual sbs-2000 server after purchase of new server?I've a customer which purchased SBS-2000 with a server from Dell--oem OS.
They now wish to purchase a new server, with, presumably a new SBS-2003 or
R2 to go with it.
I need to be able to describe to them what purposes/uses I/they can make of
the current box after the new server is in place, in terms of licensing.
They have a number of databases, so one vision is to keep that machine to
run one or more of the databases on. It is still quite competent. For this
purpose, am I correct that they would need to license Windows 2003 server,
and that client licenses will already be in place with the SBS 2003 (or R2)
purchase?
Am I thinking along the right lines--any thought from others who've done
this--what purposes do "old servers" get put to?
I've an old PII-300 server in one office that I was tempted to put XP on--it
was better than their oldest workstations. However, the fan noise was such
that nobody would have wanted to share the small cubicle/offices with it, so
it just gathers dust.......

- Compact >> USB stick recognitionHi,
I have an application that needs to check for the presence of a USB memory
stick during startup. Any stick will do.
Is there a way for me to get a notification when the stick is recognized by
the OS?
Is there a way for me to enumerate folders or something and see if any of
those belongs to a USB stick?
Any input is appreciated. I am using CE 5.0.

- SBS >> Exchange - Email stuck in local delivery que.Hello,
I just restored my sbs2003 server over the weekend. It appears that
email is being delivered to the server, but then getting stuck in the
local delivery que. If I look in that que I see 21 messages are
pending. How do I fix this? This is not something I have encountered
before.

- SBS >> Printer and active directoryNew Install, SBS 2003 with SP1 installed. All services work except for the
following issue.
8 clients (all XPs with SP2) and 1 File Server with assigned ips from the
Firewall. (SBS is static). Printer on Client (USB connection) acting as
Print Server sometimes cannot be see by other clients until they restart. No
reason, nothing has been shutdown previously. On SBS I added printer through
the Start-Printers-Faxes-Add A printer. I should be able to "add to
directory" when I share the printer but no option is given on either the SBS
Server or the Client print Server. Any ideas on what to look for next. Thanks

- Compact >> LZARI library for CFI'm looking for an LZARI library or component which can be used on, or
called from a Compact Framwork v1.0 application. Code that can be
compiled using eVC++ and P/Invoked will be acceptable. LZARI will also
need to be used on the desktop version of our app (using .NET v1.1), so
something that can work, or be compiled to work, with both platforms is
preferred.
The closest I've come so far is code for an old C application which
takes files as input and output parameters, but would prefer something
that allowed me to pass in input and output buffers. If nothing else
surfaces, I may have to roll up my sleeves and hack this one to get it
to suit my needs, but my C experience is sufficently low to make this
the least preferred route at this point.

- SVCS >> Direct Print using URL in 2k5In SRS 00 sp2 we were able to call the printer direct by using the following

I saw in a previous post where GetImage is no longer available. This URL
was lifted from behind the print button on the report viewer control in SRS00
SP2. However when I grab the URL in 2k5 we have this
ReportViewerWebControl.axd?ReportSession=
Is there a way to fake this report session so I can still direct URL print?
I have seen the previous posts recomend using the report viewer control,
that works great in some cases just not this one. I dont want to show the
report to the user just promt them to print it.

- SBS >> Outlook Web Access ProblemI need help. I suddenly can't get into my Outlook Access through the web
browser. I usually type in https://server/exchange and then login, but now
it says Page Error 400. It worked the other day.
The weirdest thing is that when I type in https://server and click RWW and
login I can click on email and it goes right in.
The next weirdest thing is that since it cached the remote way I can now
type in https://server/exchange and it will go right in.
I am not complaining that it works, but this will happen to everyone and the
client computers that are on the network still don't seem to be able to work.
I am using SBS 2003 and I need help like yesterday.

- SVCS >> Using more then one value in a parameter to create more then one reportDoes anyone know if this is possible.
I have a parameter called salesperson. It has 5 possible values. If
two of the 5 values are checked and the report is run, I would like to
return two reports to the user. One for each salesperson.
If anyone has done anyone similiar please point me in the right
direction.

- SBS >> Recovering three user accounts from BackUpHi,
I need to recover three user accounts from backup. All I need them
for is to reconnect their mailboxes so current employees can get to
those old messages. I could just create a new account and tie the
mailbox to it but I was wondering how i could recover just one single
user account from a backup.

- SVCS >> Passing Multiple values in Drill Through ReportI have a report called ReportA which has a group header that is summing
detail rows. In the textbox that I am using to some I have selected the
action property and set it to "Jump to" ReportB. ReportB has a parameter of
StudentID. Based on Summed values from the detail section of ReportA I would
like to pass the StudentID's to ReportB. Basically what I'm saying is I
would like for ReportA to pass ReportB a parameter that has multiple values.
Either this way or any way that based on the action property of a textbox I
could pass the multiple values to another report. Any help or ideas would be
appreciated.

I would like to know if there is a setting on msn 7.5 for so you can have
the webcamera on for more than one person like in msn 7.0
I have a problem....... When I am using msn,lots of times in the middle of
the conversion it freezes up. I then minimize the window and bring it up
again so I can continue. How do I fix this so then it doesn't happen again.

An account is a container for an investment. An investment would be
something like a stock or a mutual fund that you purchase and place in the
529.

- Money >> APAYs thought I thought were cancelled are still being sentBIG PROBLEM-
I had cancelled APAYS in Money 2003. No problem. Now I
have upgraded to Money 2004 and these long dead APAYS are
automatically being transmitted to my bank and I cannot
prevent this from happening because they are not
appearing on my sceduled bills calendar. I have no
apparent way of preventing this so I have been resorting
to cancelling payment after the transaction appears in my
register!

- SVCS >> Cannot access ReportServerI installed Report Services sometime ago and am now attempting some
tutorials.
When I try to access the ReportServer on my local machine via the browser
using http://computername/reports
I receive a login dialog. I have tried my username and password for both
WindowsXP and SQLServer to no avail.
While I have attempted to Google on this issue, I have not been able to find
a solution.
Any help would be appreciated.

I want to get Bittorrent working on a workstation
(which CAN be used for legitimate purposes, now back off! ;-)
It requires a few ports be open and port forwarding
So I opened the ports
But the port does not sem to be open - it doesn't seem to have done
anything, I went into CEICW and set up the firewall to open port 50000
but when I do a GRC port peek, it says its still closed
I went through Routing and Remote Access/Server/IPRouting/NAT/Basic
Firewall and tried it there. Still no port open according to GRC or my
App. I unchecked "enable a basic firewall on this interface". Still
can't get in. Any Ideas at all ? I have been working on this all day
getting nowhere.
You don't have to reboot to get a port to open or anything like that
do you ?
Also under NAT/Basic Firewall along with my LAN and WAN interfaces,
(and loopback and internal) there is a "Small Business Broadband
Connection" interface that is simply set to private interface/private
network - should that be that way ?

- SVCS >> Pls Help - can't install Sql Server Reporting ServicesI have Sql Server Personal Edition SP3 installed on my PC. I get an error
message when trying to install the reporting services trial package. Does
the reporting services not work with a personal edition of Sql Server?
The error message is "The edition of the report server database is not
supported on the edition of Sql Server 2000 you have chosen".

- SBS >> server sends mail with wrong domain name[SBS2003 Premium]
Some administrative notifications are sent automatically to external
adresses (at administrators' home adresses, for ex.)
Some are sent by the main administrator (so the from field gets his internet
adress), but some are sent by the server itself, that has no internet
adress, and the from field is field with servername@internalDomain.local ;
of course, all smtp tasks everywher in the world refuse that wrong sender,
regarded as a spammer !

- Crm >> Backup StrategyHello All,
I was just wondering how or what is the best practise to backup CRM server
and its data in SQL. Till now what I do is just backup teh SQL DB using the
backup options within SQL. I tend to backup all the databases i.e. MSCRM,
Metabase, CRMDIstrib CRMCrystal and master.
Should anything go wrong will my simple restore of each of the above
databases bring crm back up and running? Or is there more involved.
Can people out there advise what they are doing and whats the best practise
to use?

- SBS >> OWA SBS2003 Contacts folder nameA very minor but (to me) annoying problem with OWA on SBS2003:
My Contacts folder somehow got screwed up and lost all the contacts.
It's fixed and appears fine when using the full Outlook client.
However, in OWA it says 'Contacts1' instead of 'Contacts' on the button
bar.
I know this is pretty trivial and I should probably get a life etc. but
it's bugging me so if anyone knows...

- Crm >> new user questionsI recently purchased the action pack subscription and am
evaluating CRM standard suite.
We're testing with a few different business units and I'm
curious if anyone knows once we're satisfied with it, if
we can take the data from the action pack version and
upgrade to the real version. The license agreement
states no licenses can be added to the action pack
version but I don't want to spend tons of time
learning/customizing it only to find out we can move that
config to a production box.
