Windows XP Hardware >> Apple iSight ??? I was wondering if anyone has been able to get Apples iSight to work with a
PC running Windows XP?

It should be seen as a generic 1394 camera but before I go out and buy one I
wanted to ???check??? And yes I know the sound won't work but I'm only
interested in the video.

Windows XP Hardware >> Apple iSight ??? Yes, it works exactly as you think. I've been using one since it came out.
Very little can be adjusted but it is clearer than anything else and the
automatic focus was working fine until I tried using Griffins'firewire
SightLight which was a ring that fit around the insight to provide more
light. What mine provided was a lot of heat, and that, I think, caused the
automatic focus to stop working. Anyway, I am still happy with it.

Windows XP Hardware >> Apple iSight ??? Paul,

I went out and purchased the iSight but I'm having a few problem's. You
mentioned that their was "Very little can be adjusted" but I can't seem to
find anyplace to adjust anything. The primary problem I'm having is that the
if I have any light present (other then a dark room ) it totally washes out
the picture ... is their any way you've found to adjust this?

This is my first attempt at a web came so I haven't installed any web cam
software other then what comes with Windows XP. Also when I went into the
imaging devices / generic 1394 desktop camera / driver details I found the
sys file sonydcam.sys. Do you have the same driver???

I really appreciate any help on this.
Chris

Windows XP Hardware >> Apple iSight ??? I didn't need to install any driver, the screen asking to search for a
driver comes up twice but I just cancelled that. I do no use the 1394
connection on my sound card, but a separate card.
After connecting the camera and telling XP to cancel driver search twice, I
use Yahoo Messenger ,or you can use MSN messenger, I go to Messenger, start
my webcam, then if a window comes up to choose the device I pick the 1394
device (I have Pinnacle TV, so it shows up too). Then the webcam window
shows up with the camera working.
THEN I choose File, Preferences which automatically opens to the web cam
preferences, then I click on Camera Settings - this is where, on Video Proc
Amp, you can change the Brightness, Hue and Saturation.
After that, it will remain at those settings. The only thing is, when and if
your room light changes, you may have to go back and adjust for that.
Really, its not the pain in the A__ that it sounds, once you know where to
change them its easy, MSN Messenger too.
You cannot change them in Windows Explorer where it is listed along with
your Drives by choosing Properties, although that is where it should be.
Remember this is an Apple product and Steve Ballmer said that if someone
wanted to write software for it they could (License money) so far, no one
has.
