- Windows XP Security >> Looking for Guy B (guyb@efkaymusic.com)Hi! Sorry, this post does not have anything to do with Windows XP
security; but I need to get in touch with the poster who previously
was using the email adress guyb@efkaymusic.com in this newsgroup and I
figured he might still be reading this group. If you are him reading
this (or if you know his new email) please contact me. I have some
questions about your Ensoniq webstore.

- Windows XP Support >> Right click menu errorPlease can someone help me.
When I right click on a desktop icon, the menu displayed has an error- it
details 'Delete with CleanSlate' - it must be an onerous thread left from
some bit of software (could have been when I installed then uninstalled "The
Shield 2005" AV) and I dont know how to get rid of it. Where in the registry
can I edit the right click menu?? Or is there another way? Appreciate your
thoughts
Thanks Carl

- Windows XP >> microsoft windows updatescan anyone tell me why is it that everytime I click on
microsoft window updates from there home page, as a
matter of fact from every where on their site, all I get
is a thank you page. All I want to do is scan my computer
for new updates dates, and I can't get to the right page.

- Windows XP Network >> Beginner Network ProblemsGood Evening All -
1. Purchases two new HP Pavillion PCs - have two eMachines - all with XP
SP2. One Linksys Hub - Cable for internet connection.
2. All PCs connected to the internet just fine.
3. Run the "Create Home Network Wizard" - when provided for the option to
create a disk - I do not see my DVD or CD drive as a choice - so I assume
that I don't have to create one, as all PCs are XP - so I say no and finish
Wizard - this is obviously not the solution.
4. Questsioned someone (you know the one - that knows enough to be dangerous
and destroy all in their path) why no CDs came with the new PCs - they said
to create one through some place under control panel - not very explicit with
instructions - sort of a blah blah blah...
so where to go to now - I would like to understand why I don't see my CD
drive as an option (I do see it in Explorer and am able to run DVDs and CDs -
the system sees them and there are no 'exclamation points' indicating a
conflict or problem of sorts)
and would love to get these things connected to share my other limited
resources of printers/fax and files...

i need it to move all files from my desktop on a scheduled basis to

anyone know of something that fits the bill.
the closest i have found so far is second copy 2000 but that leaves

- Windows XP Security >> A question on whis is my firewall icon blinking.I have a very simple question, but it is not simple if you
don't know the answer. I have Norton's Personal Firewall
Protection, and I am wondering why the Firewall icon on the

I looked in the help section, but the answer is probably so
simple that it is not there. What does that red blinking light
on my Firewall icon mean? Thanks anyone for an answer.

- Windows XP >> Misplaced Product KeyI bought a new computer from Radio Rentals just before christmas 2005 for my
son, i would like to format his computer but we did not received a Win XP
Home Edition disk with the system when we bought it, but we did get a Product
Key which i registered and activated with Microsoft straight away.
I asked a sales man in Radio Rentals about the disk and he said they dont
give out the CD's anymore just the Product Key.....
The problem i have at the moment is i would like to format my sons computer
but we have misplaced the Windows Product Key that came with the system.
Is they anyway Microsoft can help me with finding the product key within my
sons computer, or does Microsoft have it stored somewhere in their data base?
We have three computers in the household all using Windows XP Home Edition,
registered and activated through Micosoft.

Windows XP Setup >> Curious ScreenSaver behavior
I installed the Plus! Aquarium screensaver. It shows a tank of swimming
fish and also has the option to produce a bubbling sound., which I turned
on.
The computer is set to go on standby after a longer interval, so if left
unattended, the screensaver comes on in about five minutes, and the monitor
and hard drive goes into standby after fifteen minutes.
Once in standby, the screen then goes blank. But the bubbling sound
continues.
I'm guessing that the screensaver is in RAM, so the process doesn't require
the use of the hard drive nor the monitor. Is that what's going on?

- Windows XP Setup >> Clean install of XPStarting from a W98 boot floppy, the installation starts to copy files but
then just stops and waits forever.
Starting from the downloaded XP boot floppies, the install comes up with an
error #7 saying it cannot copy the NTKRNLMP.EX_ file on disk #2 and exit is
the only option. If I boot from the CD it stops saying it cannot find the
end user licence agreement.
I have to do a clean install, any suggestions?

- Windows XP MovieMaker >> Video capture failsHello,
My Sony DCR-TRV22 has offered loads of movie-making fun up till now. As of
today, this is what happens when I try to capture video:
1. Tape rewinds okay
2. Capture starts and immediately pops up this error message: "The device is
not responding. Close any other application that is using the device and
try capturing again."
As far as I know, I have no other applications using this device, and MM is
the only application open.
The only recent/relevant changes on my system that I can think of are:
1. I installed Power DVD 4.0 and (after many MM crashes and PapaJophn's tip)
the recent patch from CyberLink (which solved the problem).
2. I had some network and security issues during which I accidentally
enabled a firewall on the 1394 connection. Since then I have disabled that
and then uninstalled and reinstalled the connection. I have also tried to
"repair" the connection, but the system tells me that TCP/IP is disabled and
cannot be repaired. This seems somewhat strange since the TCP/IP connection
box is checked and the properties tell me that things are functioning
properly. But having checked with other users of working cards, this
response is standard.
So is this more likely to be a MM problem or a connection issue? And how to
proceed?
I have found reference to a utililty
(http://www.tek-tips.com/gviewthread.cfm/lev2/5/lev3/60/pid/581/qid/346979)
that restores registry keys that may have become corrupted, but am hesitant
to use this until I know for sure that this is the source of the problem
(although there is a backup function).
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

under it are gone. This is a disaster. To a lesser note,

important and there was never a way to back them up.
