Windows XP >> I cannot ping a machine on my mshome network I have a desktop and a laptop connected together on my mshome network using
a linksys router. Both machines can access the internet. I can see both
machines in Network Neighbor. The desktop can access the drives of the
laptop but the laptop can't access the drives of the desktop. When I ping
the laptop from the desktop, no problem. When I ping the desktop from the
laptop, it times out. I can ping the desktop from the desktop, 127.0.0.1.
I can see the desktop in Network Neighborhood. I am using McAfee firewall
not the Windows xp firewall. What else would stop me from pinging the
desktop? When I double click on the desktop in My Network Places, I get the
following error message, "\\BGDesktop is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource. and then the network path was
not found.

Windows XP >> I cannot ping a machine on my mshome network See MS KB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913628/en-us
Also try temporarily shutting down the firewall.
