Windows XP >> Missing associations I have a computer that is coming up with the login screen,
ie: enter username and password. That when you login, it
goes through it's normal opperations and loads windows,
All you see is the desktop. No Icons, no startbar, no
tasktray, Nothing. When I press ctrl alt delete, I go to
task manager and processes, The normal things are running
but explorer.exe isn't running. I go to File Create New
Task and type in c:\windows\explorer.exe click ok, and I
get this error message:
This file does not have a program associated with it for
performing this action. Create an association in the
Folder Options control panel.

I get the same results in Safe Mode.

Thanks,

Take a look at Doug's site, below, and click on XP-FIXES.
In the lefthand column, click on...
"File Association Fixes"
