Cd rom drive won't work

Windows XP882
This just happened recently, and I haven't installed any new drives or

anything. I put a CD in and it doesn't do anything, it sounds like it might

be spinning for a second or two and the lights blinks for a few seconds then

just stays on. I've tried other discs, but nothing works. I've tried to open

it up from the folder under my computer, but it shows up empty. Whats wrong?

Is the drive bad?
