Windows XP >> Windows XP Getting an error msg "Notify Alert.exe" it appears to do
with security how do I get rid of it?

Windows XP >> Windows XP There are probably a lot of things that could use the
alerter svc. I am aware of two, UPS ( stand by power )
and if you have a network installed some anti-virus
programs use it to send a alert to others on the network.
If you have neither them I have no idea. You could see if
there is anything checked on your AV that might trigger
it.

This is Dell's "support" software. You can uninstall it or simply
disable it from starting with Windows either from within the program
itself (see if it has preferences you can set) or by using msconfig.
