Windows XP Support >> Writing to CD I've been trying to write files to CD, but the computer doesn't recognize
I've put a CD in the slot. When I try to 'write files to CD' it tells me
there is no CD in the drive. I've tried different CDs, dusting the slot
innards and the CDs. Anyone know what's wrong?

Without telling you how to suck eggs, the CD drive in your machine IS a
writable drive, isn't it?

Windows XP Support >> Writing to CD I can burn audio CDs via media player without a problem. The problem happens
when I go to DVD/CD RW Drive via my computer. I have text files there
waiting to be written to CD. When I click 'write these files to CD' I get a
box appearing which tells me there is no CD in the drive, regardless of
whether there is or not.

Windows XP Support >> Writing to CD
In that case your drive must not be a re-writeable drive and must not
support DVD's.
You need both to support DVD/RW.

Windows XP Support >> Writing to CD Very sorry don't understand your reply, I'm not trying to write onto a DVD.
In the past I have been able to write text files onto CD, via the DVD/RW
drive. Only recently has this become a problem.

Windows XP Support >> Writing to CD
I am sorry about that little bit of confusion.
I couldnt find any topics meeting the criteria you gave me a
http://support.microsoft.com, feel free to browse over there yourself.

One thing that it could be is that it is not enabled for writing o
data. ( On my previous computer, i had the exact same problem as yo
are having but I upgraded and there was no need for me to tinker wit
the old one anymore.)

Go into my computer, from there right click on your removable storag
device, in this case your DVD/RW and go down to properties. From th
dialoug box that opens go along to recording and make sure that yo
have enabled CD recording.
Apart from that mate, nothing jumps to mind. If thats not your proble
let me know and I will have another think
