- Windows XP Update >> Clients not detectedI had SUS and WSUS beta set up through GPO for updates and the test systems
were getting updated fine. Since I have gone to RC and created the GPO no
computers are being detected. I have run the AUbehave and gpresult and the
systems are getting the correct policy. How can I troubleshoot this? All the
settings seem to be right. In the GPO updates are set to http://myserver:8530
and I can get to the admin console OK.

- Windows XP Perform Maintain >> Can not load Remote Access Connection Manager ServiceI have a notebook PC. Its operating system was WINDOWSXP
> Home Edition and I could connect to the Internet
through
> NetZero provider. Now I upgrade my OP to WINDOWSXP
> Professional. When I tried to connect to the Internet,
it
> couldn't. The problem message was "Can't start
dialing."
> Does anybody can help me fix it?
The problem is that when you upgraded the connection
setup
was lost. Delete the old connection from the desktop. Open
the connections folder and delete that connection, if
there
is one. Then create a new one with the settings your ISP
gave you. If you used their software to do this first,
you'll need it again, as it installs custom software.
--
I did try to make a new connection, but the Internet
Connection wizard did not allow me to click the
button "Connect using a dial up modem". And when I try to
add a connection in the connection box of internet option
from control panel, I got the message. "Can not load
Remote Access Connection Manager Service"
Please help
Thanks

- Windows XP >> Systray icons missing. WMI error report. Relation to past post.I reported on trouble using intel network card driver and WMI.
http://groups.google.com/group/intel.network.adapters/browse_frm/thread/b520d7f96c02de65/0bdb1be4f99a578c?tvc=1&q=WMI#0bdb1be4f99a578c
Another syndrome is that icons in systray don't get displayed beyond a
firts couple, or after loading the icon for network card activity.
This is widely reported type of problem - missing systray icons,
reported here:
http://winhlp.com/node/16
I solved the problem thereof by hiding UPNP icons via My Network
Places.
Now if you review the numerous error logs in the past post you can see
the relation of this error with icons and the error of getting stuck
WMI during authorization. After failure to authenticate no further
icons are loaded.

- Windows XP Setup >> XP StartupHow do I do three things with XP Home SP1:
Start a program (ie autoexec.bat) to echo a time/date
stamp to a file so I know when windows is crashing in the
middle of the night.
Find a file similar to faultlog.txt to tell me what made
windows crash and
find a file similar to scandisk.log to tell me what
checkdsk fixed during a boot process...
thank you
also i get irql_not_less_or_equal and
page_fault_in_nonpaged_area errors, I cant seem to
benchmark or test my memory because there are some
registry files (IoPageLockLimit) missing... what reg keys
need to be there for proper memory useage???????

- Windows XP >> DVD+R DL burned in Vista, unreadable in Vista, readable in XP!The most curious thing; using Vista Ultimate I burned a 6GB file to a
DVD+R DL.
In Vista's 'Burn a Disc' 'Prepare this blank disc' window I chose
'Mastered - Readable on all computers and some CD/DVD players.
Requires you to write all files at once, and individual files can't
be
erased afterwards.' The burn appeared to complete successfully.
On my Vista computer I re-insert the disc. The directory displays. In
attempting to drag the file to a folder on the HDD the process hangs.
In the Command Prompt window running a comp returns 'Can't read
file'.
My XP computer has no problem reading the file! A comp on the XP
computer indicates the file was burned perfectly.
I can't spend time on this problem. Any ideas what's the problem?
Thank you,
Harry

answer to this problem without causing a virus from downloading something to

- Windows XP >> MSIE Causes Memory read error on closeI posted this last week and now can not find the
original. Someone mentioned running memtest, which I did
and there are no problems with my hardware.
Every time I shut down MSIE, I get an error that a
specific memory address could not be "read". I am
noticing some real performance issues now and I believe
it is something to do with the same memory read problem.
Any other suggestions?

- Windows XP Setup >> Home XP network event id 534I have a small network with two W98 PCs and a Windows XP Home Edition
machine. When I am trying to access shared resources from the 98s to XP Home
it wants me to provide a password for IPC$.
I have also a Event ID 534 in the Security Log. "The user has not been
granted the requested logon type at this machine." in The Security Log of XP

This think happen after a worm attack to the XP machine.
Until now I have already done:
Remove the worm successfully
Apply SP2
Any kind of firewall is disabled.
On XP Home computer at (Lsa) registry: Restrictanonymous = 0,
Restrictanonymoussam = 1 forceguest: 1
Enable the quest account
Running again the Network Setup Wizard
Use "Simple File Sharing" was turned on
but cannot solve this problem.
If anyone has some suggestions for this I'll be greatly appreciated!

- Windows XP MovieMaker >> movie maker has encountered a problemThe OS version got unreliable, bought a copy of the media
CD, and finally downloaded it from BS (oops MS). I can
import the clip, but at the first sign of editing or
saving. "MM has encountered a problem... yada yada."
Ive sent at least 20+ reports (HAH), and as yet
nothing. Its bad enough having to buy a replacement of an
included application, but jeez, you'd think it would at
least work. Ive tried deleting, reinstalling, BS windows
updates, and I'm at a loss. And its not like I can get a
refund for my whopping digital eXPerience CD. I've got
nearly 80 hrs of vid to review and burn. I've tried 3rd
party apps with poor results. Ive seen what it can do
when it works and im almost impressed. I guess Quality
control doesn't mean much to BS

If you have the same problem I have, it's a virus or
spyware or whatever... my messenger icon would show up in
the system tray marked as disabled ... you might want to
try reading the various entries on Ad-ware and

57 empresas comerciales y organizaciones no lucrativas, enviados a
direcciones de correo en más de 37 dominios diferentes. En todos los casos,
dijo Lyris, los destinatarios aceptaron recibir esos mensajes.
El informe completo de Lyris del segundo trimestre se puede descargar en

- Windows XP >> Little suggestion for future Windows reliesesin Windows Explorer, luck of New Folder in context menu of the left
folder pane.
In some cases this luck is the reason of too much steps to accomplish a
file management job.
And when happen I stop me and I say "where is the problem? I can do it
as I want!"
EG:
I'm in the file pane on the right, I have just copied one file and
after my work on it I want remain here, in this folder, to do more job.
But I have to paste the file just copied in an other folder now.
1. I go on the left folder pane
2. I click the parent folder of my interest
3. On the right pane I create my new child folder:
the right pane changed many times ( I have lost my folder context
in my memory too)
4. I double clik on the new folder or I right click on it.
but usually inside my new child folder I right click on the blank
space in my right file pane and I past my file
5. I have to scroll again the left folder pane to restore my folder
context or I have to remember to use the back button in the toolbar
that I usually use it only for my internet navigation.
In this case I want to simply right click on the right folder pane and
make [new folder]
so I can manage my copy and past job simply buy my left folder pane
with the right click..
I know there are the drag-and-drop capabilities but, you know, between
more possbilities you chose what you prefer in that kind of moment. I
usually use all the these capabilities but I feel also this luck in
some moments.. and, I mean, I feel to need to complete my job in that
manner in that time!
Thank you for your time
