I'd never put that crap on my machine or the one that comes out every month.

Windows XP Update >> spyware/adware removal. All the more reason to warn people not to use a Beta product, especially
when there are other, tried and true, programs available that do a better
job.

Besides, it's never a good idea to let the wolf guard the hen house.

<snip>

I still also use Ad-Aware (free version). I would not normally put
beta software on my computer, but I decided to try the Microsoft
program because I was wanted some real-time protection and it was
rated by Consumer Reports as one of the most effective and the
easiest-to-use of the eight anti-spyware programs they reviewed.

So far it has exposed several activities of which I was previously
unaware. All of them were apparently not harmful, but I uninstalled
Nero PhotoShow Express to avoid frequent real-time alerts about it
trying to install itself in my registry as a startup program.

Windows XP Update >> spyware/adware removal. In my opinion, you ought not to trust in free programs at all,
especially when talk is going about your computer security. That's why
I use cheap, but reliable spyware remover
(http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/privacyexpert/ ). To be
on the safe side, also I have Ad-aware and Microsoft Windows
Ant-spyware, but several times they weren't able to detect and delete
spyware as against Privacy Expert...
