Windows XP Update >> Updates were unable to be successfully installed My computer is set to receive automatic updates, but I noticed a gold color
shield within my system tray indicating that "Updates are ready for your
computer" for Office 2003 Service Pack 2.

The updates go through the entire download, but in the end a blue pop-up
appears stating "Updates were unable to be successfully installed" indicating
that "The following updates were not installed: Office 2003 Service Pack 2".

I have used the Microsoft Update link on my computer and downloaded the
updates from the Updates page to no avail ... it fails to install.

Any solutions?

Windows XP Update >> Updates were unable to be successfully installed Put your Office Installation cd in the drive before starting the service pack
install. It needs something off of the CD but abends instead of asking for
the CD.

Windows XP Update >> Updates were unable to be successfully installed Hello Larry,

I installed the installation CD per your recommendation and low and behold
the download did engage the CD during the installation, at which point I
thought it would finally install successfully. Unfortunately, the same error
message appeared at the end of the install.

However, at least this time I received an Error Code (0x51F), but cannot
find any information on Microsoft Online what this error means and how to
correct it.

Might anyone know why updates are not downloading successfully?

Windows XP Update >> Updates were unable to be successfully installed I found the following under the entry "SP 2 Solution that WORKS!!!"

Had the same problem. Contacted MS Tech and they sent me to this address:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=57e27a97-2db6-4654-9db6-ec7d5b4dd867&DisplayLang=en

For complete instruction go to: http://rockawaymo.us/sp_2.htm

This link is what MS Tech sent me.

It worked fine. All my MS Office products updated fine and work as they did.

Hope this helps.
